“Botterill is not Murray, he is doing this right”

~Hockeybuzz, summer 2019

- ImThatGuy

Maybe Botts should trade away all his first round picks for, you know, goalies and problem wingers and slow defensemen.

What if they just moved the entire organization to another Buffalo?

Obviously not, but it is time to trade core pieces from years gone by, including Ristolainen and maybe even Reinhart.

Yea, that’s not what I said at all but every time someone brought up Botts doing enough, Murray was blamed.

Botterill has skated by on “Not being Tim Murray” for 3 years, so he’s got that going for him.

"General Manager Jason Botterill has overplayed his hand and is now completely stuck. He has too many defensemen and not enough forwards. He obviously needs to trade for scoring help, but who's going to help a guy backed so far into a corner fix a team that's just plain soft?

"We’re actively looking to see if we can make our team a little better and find a forward out there to help our group," Botterill told reporters before the game after returning from GM meetings in Toronto.

Better get a move on that, Jason. Like how about maybe before the plane leaves for Boston on Wednesday afternoon? This team needs help."

Sheary cost very little, but he has been a nothing burger most of the time. I'd rather pay a little more to get a quality player.

The only way to truly change this team is to ship out talent for talent. Fresh faces, because the ones we have the same issues over and over and over and over again. It's embarrassing and disheartening. Reinhart is a talented player. If you use him to acquire an upper echelon talent to change the scenery for both, then fine.

When you have 9 players playing a forward position contributing precisely zero goals, then you have a (frank)ing problem. A problem that's been here for years. BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY GOD DAMN CENTER DEPTH.

(frank) you Darcy, (frank) you Tim, and (frank) you Jason.

Part of the center depth problem is Reinhart not playing center, to be fair.

Management desperately needs to hire Tim Connolly to manage the forwards/PP.

We had severe depth problems past few years, attributing to the insignificant costs of some of the players we brought here. He didn't use good assets on good players, besides Skinner. He used average to below avg assets on average to below average players. You want a shake up? Release every single UFA and Erod. Find NHL players to replace at least half of them.

Ok, but that is only in many fan's eyes.

Really, all that matters is that Terry is either on board or he's not with Botts' plan.

I haven't completely given up on Botterill, though I am getting close, but "at least he didn't do what Murray did" is getting to be a tired defense. Firing one incompetent GM doesn't make you immune to hiring another one.

I'm not interested in being fair. I'm interested in Jason doing his god damn job and stop literally praying Mittelstadt is ready to dominate a 2nd line role.

As a role player yes. COuntless times hes exited the zone well and allowed others to play well.

Youre missing the role player part of it

At this point other than Eichel you can get rid of them all
