That's why I think it makes sense to fire Botterill now.
-Allow Krueger to operate the team on an interim basis so he can best identify the talent that fits his vision
- let him lead the the GM search with the vision of Krueger assuming the VP of personnel or president role within 3-5 years
He'd be picking his current boss with the knowledge that he'll oversee the operation and train the future head coach. It's an eye toward the future approach - jcragcrumple
Do you think an ex-nhl player even if it was a short stint in the show, who graduated from Michigan and AGM’d under multiple Stanley cup GM’s would be a resume you’d be interested in?
I heard he likes the nacholife a little too much but I don’t know enough about yellow cheese to comment |

Arizona is a more applicable destination for a nacholife enthusiast. The cradle of texmex cuisine. And they have a vacancy from Darcy's departure |

Hey he could do what ever he wanted. He was playing good hockey in Vegas.
It’s like the 90s bills ..... they would party so drugs and other mischief and still get the W on Sunday’s. - Sabretooth9
Yet they never got that most important win and had 4 tries. |

Every single move made has been to set the team up for a major overhaul next year when half the teams contracts expire. - Shadman306
It is the only rationale, and a very tough one to swallow at that.
I haven't thought for a minute botterill will be fired this year. Another whatever happens season and get ready for the cap space. They just happened to start hot again this year |

Not really though. He got in the doghouse out here and that was what precipitated his trade to Buffalo. That and the fact the Knights had zero cap space to re-sign players. |

Word around town out here in Vegas is that Miller liked the nightlife a little too much. I wonder if he's in the doghouse for some late night shenanigans on Chippewa or something of the like. - Pierceme69

You mean they have to go to FA to replace these guys?
The same FA where prices have grown astronomically?

I really don't think Botts is gonna get fired, I think it was discussed when he was hired that it would take atleast 3yrs to rebuild from bottom to top. There's a bunch of contracts coming off the books. We can all hate it, we got bamboozled by the first 10 games. It sucks, but we really weren't picked to do anything this year. I want to see what happens up to the trade deadline and the draft, see if he pulls anything out in FA. See if he pulls a big fish in by the deadline and what happens in FA. |

Some here would probably say that you’re just far too impatient, and that everything is proceeding exactly to plan. |

Ya, he did, but we do see it differently though.
His issues for me are mostly by errors of omission, rather than whiffing big on acquisitions
Before you go nuts, I'm largely
A) excusing the bringing back the twins this year,
B) trading for Sheary 14 months ago
C) giving wide latitude to Ralphie-boy
I'm not ready to poop-can him, but I'm damn sure not going to accept more excuses.
So, I'll call him out and criticize him for not making enough moves to fix this roster mess.
I also realize that the roster mess is very largely his doing, but also recognize some of the mess was from earlier moves of short-term committments to plug holes that existed then.
My biggest issue with Botts is his delay in fixing glaring, gapping holes in the roster the size of Texas. |

It sucks Pegs, but he really didn't have much to work with, or cap space, and some of that falls on him, but Murray really did (frank) this team up with some of the moves he did. And people keep ripping on the ROR trade, we will never now if that was mandated by ownership at that time and he got what he could. He would have gotten such a better haul if the bonus wasn't attached. I think next year is the year to watch. |

Will Botts redeem himself if he convinces Okposo and Sobotka to retire?
Does that instantly remove their cap hit? |

Impatience and short sightedness plague much of these boards and quite frankly I don’t blame people. I get it that I’m younger and haven’t had to suffer as long also. This team has a really bright future and a lot of that is due to Botts.

Yes they do, there are some good young players coming up through the system, of course not everyone will make it, but if half of them work out, and he has pieces to bring in a few decent players to. I have seen a lot of poop through my 40yrs of Buffalo Sports. To me Botts has some more time, Murray screwed a lot of this teams future with the trades he made. If Murray would have just let the system mature, we would have been more like the Avalanche right now |

Travis Yost calmed me down
He said there is absolutely more talent on this roster than last year and we aren’t the only team playing god awful right now. Its just so familiar to us
They will be ok *if* this GM makes a move.
I think he will. |

The Jets missed the playoffs 6 out of Chevy’s first 7 years.
The Avs have been in and out for years.
The Leafs (who will rebound) have been rebuilding since 2012.
Arizona, Edmonton, Vancouver all look strong.
The Lightning took Stammer and Hedman and weren’t an elite team right away. Sucked enough to grab Drouin a few years back.
Things take time. |

So if there’s so much talent on the roster right now, exactly what is the problem with this team? Or is everything currently fine and there are no problems? |
