Skinner-Rodrigues-Sheary
Vesey-Mittelstadt-Lazar
Girgensons-Asplund-BOGOSIAN
These are the 3 middle/bottom lines from yesterday's practice. Minus Skinner this is a Calder Cup challenging lineup. Bogo on the wing might be ECHL level. |

Exactly, he is part of the 100 million we have coming off the books - hubie
Here's the fun thing, IMO.
Some will make the point that Botts has failed in bolstering the Top 6 in the offseason via:
I) Trade, because
a) we don't have the assets
b) we didn't don't have Cap Space
c) no willing Partners
d) return isn't significant enough
II) UFA signings, because
a) several UFA's rejected Sabres, none really wanted to play here
b) Salary/ Cap cost was too high (astronomical)
c) Term too long
Now, many look forward to next offseason when Sabres are projected to have around $35m available are eager to reload the roster via FA.
I wonder, do they expect IIa, b, c above to magically vanish? How do they reconcile these seemingly conflicting points? |

Nathan Beaulieu is doing well in Winnipeg, as @WiebeAthletic writes. As for his time with Sabres ...
"Mentally, it was so degrading. ... You heard Ryan O’Reilly say it and I know (the Sabres) didn’t like what he said, but he couldn’t have put it better." https://t.co/y7yrn0nvry |

Then I guess no matter who the gm is, we're going to suck.
Welcome to being a Sabres fan in 2020.

He should have been bought out or waived. Honestly it's not worth rehashing. People are undoubtedly sick of hearing about it. The wild suck. We might win tonight - jcragcrumple

You would think they would like that atmosphere. Like a fun, party college where you get drunk, high and go to class when you want to but get paid millions. |

I think it’s at 5 or 6 now.

I wish they would cite exactly why though.

6 games deep and he thinks he’s on a roll. He’s 2 turnovers shy of riding the bench. |

These articles are basically kicking a franchise when it's down.
Ask anyone who's been on a losing team for a few years if it's any fun.
I'm not deflecting blame away from anyone who's had any say in running this team the past decade (and there's been a bunch of them, and they all (frank)ed up in one way or another), but did anyone expect Nathan "sniff, sniff" Beaulieu to say he had a great time here? |

And that's what it all boils down to.
The players shouldn't be let off the hook here, either.
They were all part it and had influence on what happened ON the ice. |

Housley didn't like him and the drunk goalie was probably screaming at him constantly |

Hey, if they beat a bad wild team tonight, they'll have points in 3 of the last 4 and can talk about that. Lmao |

Make no moves and just resign RFAs
20/21
Reinhart(7) Eichel(10) Skinner(9)
Johansson(4.5) Mittelstadt(2.25) Olofsson(4)
Thompson(1.5) Erod(1.5) Okposo(6)
Lazar(.800) Asplund(.845) Vesey(1.5)
XF(1)
Ristolainen(5.4)
Montour(5)
Miller(3.875)
McCabe(2.85)
Dahlin(.925)
Joiharju(.925)
Pikut(.925)
Hutton(2.75)
Ullmark(2.75)
Hodgson(.792)
Total salary 76.087
Dahlin and Jokiharju contracts coming due the next season.
I have no idea why people are under the impression we have so much money to work with.
When Dahlin and Jokiharju get pay increases we have almost nothing left.
Johansson and McCabe will fall off the books and you can replace their salaries for cheaper options. But that’s a far cry away from having 34M to work with.
The way I see it is we have around 7 million cap space to spend.
21/22
Reinhart(7) Eichel(10) Skinner(9)
Olofsson(4) Mittelstadt(2.25) Okposo(6)
Thompson(1.5) Cozens(.925) Vesey(1.5)
Pekar(.925) Erod(1.5) Asplund(.845)
Lazar(.800)
Dahlin(8)
Risto(5.4)
Montour(5)
Miller(3.875)
Jokiharju(3.25)
Pilut(.925)
Borgen(.925)
Ullmark(2.75)
UPL(.925)
Hodgson(.792)
Total salary:78.087
This is bare bones. Keeping no expiring UFAs and replacing Salaries falling off the books with entry level contracts to save as much as possible.
Does anyone see 34 million to spend?
The only way to make the changes needed for this team is thru trade. Use the value we have on defense to trade for legitimate top six players.
Yes you’ll lose out on some defense talent and depth. But you have to hope that Dahlin, Jokiharju and Pilut can fill that loss with increased ice time and maturation.
We are so far away from having the scoring we need from our forward group. We have Mittelstadt who we hope will improve and Cozens to help. No other scoring talent whatsoever in the pipeline.
Hoping to draft and develop players will take too long. By the time those players would be available Skinner, Eichel and a Reinhart will be past their prime.
The only answer is to make trades. |

A non-informative article if ever.....why did the Sabres lose those games? Who played poorly ? What mmoves did Kreuger make to adjust the D or lines ? Any fan can recount who scored......weak report from a respected blogger. |

You’d think players would be more excited and grateful for high drafts picks. |
