I have no idea why people are under the impression we have so much money to work with.
When Dahlin and Jokiharju get pay increases we have almost nothing left.
Johansson and McCabe will fall off the books and you can replace their salaries for cheaper options. But that’s a far cry away from having 34M to work with.
The way I see it is we have around 7 million cap space to spend.
- Beethoven
Some interesting things in there.
First, some nitpicking. I don't see Mitts or Olofsson getting that much. No way Vesey comes back at 1.5.
Second, what do you do with ERod? If you don't qualify him for 2m, he's a UFA. Really don't know how that one plays out. JB hates letting RFA's walk.
Third, the thing everyone is going to forget every time they go through this exercise is that we're going to lose a couple million off the cap next year from bonuses earned this season. Potentially up to 4.7'ish million. More likely around 2m. It's one of the downsides of LTIR.

Rare footage of Over50's butt after that truth bomb got dropped on him this morning.
Wishing death on someone is bad. I would hope that is clear as water.
But telling the biggest as shole to ever grace these blogs that no one would care if he did, well, d!ck move or not, he deserved that one.

Most likely that move will coincide with Bogo's return. Whether or not he'll play forward remains to be seen |

Someone's going to. Could just as easily be Sobotka.

Qualifying offers to RFAs making 1M or more need to be 100% of their previous contract salary. So if we give qualifying offers to Erod and Vesey they would have to be for 2M and 2.25M respectively.
The way around it is to not give them qualifying offers and therefore lose their rights as restricted. Then we could offer them contracts for less and they could test free agency to see if another team wants them. I don’t really care to keep either of them. If they don’t agree to contract for pay cuts I would cut ties with both in a heartbeat.
Mitts and OV salaries are estimates based off of current production. Olofsson is on pace for 28 28 56 which IMO would garner 4M. I do agree his production will drop off and he will sign cheaper. Mitts is on pace for 12 16 28 which are third line center numbers and I don’t think 2.25 is far off if he achieves that. Sobotka was signed for 3.5 with much less talent and potential and less production.
Performance bonuses do count toward the cap. However, there is a cushion of 7.5 percent of the upper cap limit reserved for performance bonuses which is included in that years cap figures. Only players 35+ or on ELCs can earn performance bonuses and from what I’ve read they affect the current years cap, not the upcoming, and there is a built in cushion for those.

Mine but it’s dire time to put one of our D’s on forward as a stop gap for a bit. Rochester is being raped |

If Dahlin is playing forward, put him at center with Skinner and Bogo. Scoring, playmaking and truculence |

Being serious here. Why not try Risto at wing? The knock against him is his decision making. Putting him at wing would take most of that away. He is big, he hits, he could forecheck and win puck battles along the wall. He can stick handle and shoot.
At this point I am willing to try anything. Why not throw Risto onto the RW with Eichel and Reinhart and see what happens.
Put Bogo back with Dahlin, Dahlin was much better last year playing with him. |

Not saying it's a good idea or a bad idea.
But...
If we're hoping Risto at RW and Zach (frank)ing Bogosian are going to save us. We should spend this time discussing top5 draft picks instead. |

Well when Bogo does come back, I would put him with Dahlin, they actually played pretty decent together last year |

Assists, PP goals/assists, and SH goals/assists don’t count. Only stat that matters is 5v5 goals didn’t you know ? |

This was the whole debate over the summer. During his first 2 great years, his shooting percentage had him as literally the best sniper in the league. Either last year (his bad year) was the aberration, or the 1st two good years were |

I never said he wasn’t playing well.
It’s interesting he only has 4 goals considering he’s one of the leagues best shooters |

What’s more likely to continue, him getting secondary assists at a rate he never has, or him continuing to score goals at a pretty average rate since literally a year ago |
