The good news is they will keep their pick this draft and Green & Benning will be fired. The best off season ever.

A reset during a rebuild? Yikes.

He’s also had massive financial troubles. It’s a wonder he’s been able to compete professionally.

Gambling or what? I was just reading about how his dad tried to kill his mom when he was like 10. Certainly sets the stage for problems later in life

It’s not just passing. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him win a puck battle. He makes five bad plays for every good play.

it honestly seems like hes reluctant to go into a puck battles all together. It would be between him and LE for who has less compete night in and night out.

Boeser. Any time he looses the puck he throws his hands up in the air and starts to saunter back.

I was lobbying for a BB - KC trade at beginning of season. I still think it was a good suggestion.

That's what you get with offensive-minded dmen risk/reward.

His +/- isn't great granted but you don't bury a 60 point dman in the second pairing with little to no PP1 time.

It's Babcock lol

You can see the rest of the club is tuning Babcock out as well.

- LordHumungous

You also don't win with minus defence.

Since Bos won the cup. There has only been 2 defencemen on any team in the top 3 scoring D that have been a minus player. Seabrook was -3 in Chicago last cup win. Doughty was -2 when LA won their first cup.

The only time Erik Karlsson's team has ever made the playoffs is when he's a plus player.

Did the team look better last season than this season?

On paper it should have been better this season but to me they look worse.

His effort, especially lately, has been disappointing. I started noticing it a few games ago, but there have been so many holes/issues on the team that it felt like his deficiencies were the least of the team's problems as he's at least factoring in some scoring

You see his line mates make 5 good plays to get into the zone and he makes one bad one and the puck is out.

Stats wise Pettersson is doing better. So is Boeser.

I was looking the other day at Zone starts and had noticed that when Bruce Cassidy took over in Boston, he started playing Bergeron 5-10% more starts in the Ozone than previous coaches.

Bergeron PPG since than has been over a ppg. Was never a ppg before that. Still regarded as one of the best defensive centres.

This year Petey is starting more in the Dzone than any other Canucks Center. Good theory he's your best centre but to me i'd rather him start in the ozone, get more scoring opportunities that don't involve going 200 ft and being able to hem the other team in their own zone.

Horvat is a player that scores off the rush and is taking the most Ozone face-offs. He's got to go back to his own end to come back up the ice to have a "rush". His line mates Virtanen and Pearson are the same, they score off the rush.

This is simply from a specific stand point but also the players look uncomfortable in the way they are being asked to play and it wasn't that way last season.

All scoring has dried up. I'd love to shake this team up considering they are falling into the same patterns regularly.

Stecher isn't crushing it probably because he's not allowed to play Even though he wouldn't anyways but he's certainly worth more than 13 minutes a night.

Eriksson and Baertschi lines have been on the ice for 1 5v5 goal in 18 games.

I'd actually prefer to try Goldobin instead of Baertschi.

Yes, goldy over sven. At this point you gotta try, nothing to lose

They are on a losing streak, things don't go well and it becomes a mental issue, goaltending has to be better and score first. Stars are a hot team right now and the canucks are not.

I thought there was no way this could be true but I looked it up and he does have a majority D zone starts, though Beagle has a higher D zone start %.

What makes that stat even more shocking though is that EP literally didn't start a single shift in the D zone until the 9th game of the season. That's a pretty titanic shift, and it makes no sense to me as to why he's being used that way. Let Horvat and Sutter start there more.

Petey is at 56.6 and Beagle is at 52% Dzone starts. That's even strength only.

Petey started in the Dzone but just wasn't taking the faceoffs. He's 47% on the season where Miller is 59% on face-offs.

There are other teams struggling right now including the canucks and if you watch the other teams games its the same issues.
