I really cant recall a time where the coach lost the room and he was able to regain it in the same season. I don't know about Keefe other than the success he's had with the Marlies, not sure that translates to working well with the leafs roster. Other than that not sure who the replacement would be. Have to think it cant be Hakstol.

If the leafs were 15-8 we are looking at this game and would be happy.

NSH, CGY are the only teams that would really look for a move the leafs would be looking for...all I see is Barrie/Hamonic and it would take some creativeness on CGY to make it work. So Idk....I think Leafs and CGY both wait this out a few more games.

Pretty silly too.

The leafs aren’t about the future.

If they waste this year it is very bad. It only gets harder and harder when they have to resign Rielly and Andersen. Anything past an early first pick is taking years to be even relevant let alone an impactful player. IE Sandin and Liljegren.

They will not sell off and shouldn’t sell off. This year and every year until they sick again will be about winning. A little bit better draft pick isn’t helping the leafs. It’s very bad if they miss playoffs.

Well. It was nice to see Matthews and Nylander arguing on the bench. There is life! Barrie played better. People can blame Babs all they want, and he isn't great. But the big boys just ain't getting it done. Period. If they need a coach to come in and lick their ass they are the problem.

I really don't think "Babs" is the problem. Your GM, the wonder kid, did this. Don't forget about Shanahan, he's very liable as well. YOU HAD A #1 CENTER WITH MATTHEWS. Jt is not a leader, which was on display for 5 years in Long Island. The Leafs are incredibly close to being great, but the wrong player has the "C". So long as he's got it, he'll be happy, and not do anything. Remember this post, or not...but JT ain't your leader into battle

Honestly I really think the issue is not Dubas, its Babs.

Been pointed out already by Burke and others you don't change the assistant coachs like that unless you are trying to save the head coach.

Shanny hired him not Dubas.

And even Darren Millard acknowledged Babs and Dubas are at loggerheads tonight on Tim and Sid.

The strategies, the game plans, the usage and who is playing with who and where. All of it falls on Babs.

Tonight was a better effort but the results were not there. Still shooting ourselves in the foot and it winds up in the back of our net.

Sure plenty of blame for GM, Coach, Players... bad luck with injuries too.

End of the day Dubas isn't going yet. Not happening. Babs has to be on thin ice here and the weird disconnect after the players meeting with players saying one thing and Babs something completely different is a bit scary.

I think it is time to shift and since cant fire and trade 23 players the coach takes the fall here. THEN it is all on Dubas.

Leafs need to add a backup goalie.
Leafs need to trade Nylander and get rid of Ceci.
Then they need to decide whether they can get a good return for Johnsson and/or Bracco.
And make up their minds on whether they want to keep Muzzin or Barrie.
Big question mark is Matthews - I still feel he could be 2nd best player in NHL after McDavid, and even be close to him. That gap is getting bigger very quickly though - the guy has apparent character issues, and is not progressing on the defensive side.

Personally, as said yesterday I'd love a Barkov + Ekblad for Matthews + Nylander trade, even if Leafs would need to add a pick or a player like Bracco onto that.

There is still time.
But management needs to act fast and change the makeup of this team.
Right now, this team looks way worse on the ice than when Lou was GM.
