Those 2 wouldn’t look too bad right now.

38-21 the rest of the way to make the playoffs.

So the good news is that either:
a. they'll make the playoffs and have a tonne of momentum; or
b. they'll know by Christmas (or sooner) that this season is a (frank) up and they can focus on cleaning out the wreckage.

Based on 1000 simulations of remainder of season, Leafs have a 19.8% chance to make the playoffs...

That's insane...who do they have next? Watching the last half of the Oilers vs. Sharks from last night on my phone and don't want to look it up and ruin the final score.

Let's be honest here, what was the bad situation Lou created?
- walshyleafsfan

Zaitsev contract, Marleau, his outdated policy on rookies not getting performance bonuses in their ELCs; that really pissed off Marner's group. Martin.

I’ve noticed the “leafs are going to win the cup” posters are slowly fleeing the site...after running around thumping their chests in every team blog...and declaring Dubas DA BEST.

I don’t mind Dubas but I think the parading should have waited until his work had produced.

They had the 2nd best odds to win the cup going into the season; with good reason, the expectations were high.

Martin? What kind of ending to a paragraph is that?

No excuse. It is not like Marner was doing much.

Pittsburgh caved them in missing their best forward and best defenseman, 2 other key pieces and playing a backup.

Someone on TSN said the Maple Leafs organization has become and excuse machine. They are absolutely right.

- Aetherial

Point per game.
The leafs could use that.

But seriously, even with effort this isnt that great.

False sense of security. Leafs have the league RIIIIIGHT where they want them.

It’s nice to have the expectations, but paper and ice are 2 different things...maybe wait until we’re 20 points out in front 1st.

A lot of posters didn’t think our D looked anywhere close to being in the contender category.

Talking bout simulations; if the Leafs played this season over again 100 times with the same roster but with a different coach - how many times would they be in this spot or worse...? 1? 2? 5?

Meh. When he did play at least we were winning. But it’s not like we were stuck with him.

They were a .500 team from jan until the end of the season last year

They shouldn't though.

Theres 2 other 11 million dollar guys on the team. They can do something to win.

Dunno bro, just sayin' the Vegas bookies had them at #2, soooo I can empathize with the excitement.

There's still a slim chance that this team figures out how to play hockey again and goes on a run and even do damage in the playoffs if they get momentum and stay healthy.

Oh c'mon Garnishment ..you know that's bs. The public at large had the Leafs as a contender. Leaf fans around here are always forced to push back against the pessimistic so ya you'll get a lot of that "raw raw" here. But don't pretend like they/we were out on a island thinking the Leafs were a very good team.

There's no pleasing you guys.

If I had told you, before the season, you'd be 2 points ahead of Tampa in mid-november, most of you would have been pretty god damn happy about that scenario.

Now, it's happening, and it's not enough.

I GIVE UP.

You can't compare two different seasons with two different rosters; it doesn't work that way.

(frank) if I know, but there are millions at stake in Vegas, so the bookies have their reasons.

IMO, the moves they made should've made them better.
