We do have some guys that are "gritty" like Muzzin, Kapanen, Hyman, Holl, Mikheyev (to an extent). Gauthier could probably be more physical too.
We need our top players to play with more intensity.. I don't know if that's coaching on motivate them or if the players don't give a poop anymore.

- PatC80

That guy pisses me off.

He started well...looked like he wasn't a complete offensive black hole but now he is back to normal.

Spezza on pace for 45 points over a 82 game season
- Santo_44

45 points for $700k would be playing above his value..

Too bad, he'll be a healthy scratch once Kerfoot is back..

oh... I don't know.... let me think... franchise center, large CAP hit... might make the GM look like an ass... that kind of thing
- BorjeFan4Ever

Hypothetically though - would you move Matthews fin a deal around:

MacKinnon?
Barkov?
Couturier?
Barzal?
Scheifele?
Point?
Pettersson?
Jack Hughes?

He is good on the PP along the wing.

It is nice having a shot threat along the wall.

Keeps players honest.

who should babcock play on the PK?
if he puts Marincin on the team just for that, he's criticized as well.

So the contract and fear of looking like an ass.
If he’s a center I guess Nylander is too.

Yeah just get players that work hard. We will be the Leafs of 2015....works hard but gets last place. Awesome.

Also people have recency bias with Kapanen right now.

- Santo_44

so you're saying Nylander and Johnsson don't work hard?
.HOHO.

Johnsson works pretty damn hard.

Nylander has his moments but is a really good player.

I mean every player has 2 point games that jump up their stats.

To this point he has been productive for what he is. He is better than I expected and he deserves to play every game now.

recency bias... does that mean I can or can't refer to Kapanen as a 20 goal scorer?

Nylander has a quite a few chances last night.

Johnsson is sometimes all flash and speed but doesn’t accomplish a lot of sometimes.

It means people were calling for his head for the first 10 games.

Johnsson was horrible his first 20 games last year. Then he was 4th in the entire league in P/60 from January to April.

My point is that Kapenen is playing great right now and he WILL go through stretches where he is bad again. Every player does but he isn;t untouchable because he has been good his past 10 games. That is recency bias.

Johnsson is off right now.

He will get going.

I'd choose Johnsson over Kap if I had the choice...Especially when you consider TOR's LW depth.

didn't he hit the post last night? but I guess since that is not technically a shot on goal (whoever came up with that genius decision should be applauded slowly and loudly) ...

which would I think reasonably be considered a scoring chance...

might have been a better scoring chance than anything Nylander or Matthews had last night..
