A couple of offers from Pens fans on Spector's page:
Scandella and ERod for Galchenyuk
or
Scandella for Zach Aston Reese and a pick
Also, he had a quote from Elliot Friedman:
"SPORTSNET: Friedman also reported the Buffalo Sabres are facing a roster crunch as they’re sitting NHL-caliber defensemen like Colin Miller and Marco Scandella. Sidelined blueliner Zach Bogosian is also close to returning, which will have salary-cap implications. GM Jason Botterill is in the market for a forward. Friedman considers it difficult for Botterill to get a good deal when other teams see their situation."
The bolded part is what I have been thinking lately. At the start of the season we had leverage in the trade market and had the ability to wait for the best offer available. Hoping a struggling team comes calling or perhaps an injury occurs and a team is desperate for a dman and we are able to take advantage of the opportunity. Instead we are now the team that is struggling and injuries to our forwards could require a trade. All the leverage we had is now gone.
Although it may not be a popular opinion around here I think it would be best to wait a couple weeks and allow a few guys to get healthy before making a knee jerk reaction trade. Not only does it raise our leverage a bit, but it gives us a chance to see the call ups and assess their play. Perhaps the play of Lazar and Asplund will allow JBotts to include a Sheary, ERod, Larsson or someone else to a trade offer to better the return.
Side note: Leafs fan proposed yesterday Miller for Kapanen. Leafs don't have quite enough space to make the trade, but adding Spezza (who was about to be waived prior to the Marner injury) would make it a dollar for dollar trade. I would make that trade. |

The leverage will not go up. Every GM in the league knows we have 9 d men and 3 forwards |

Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. How many backup goalies have we seen in the last decade? Always been an inside joke with my friends about seeing the opposition's backup and making them look like a potential starter. |

WGR tweeted it from instigators interview with Friedman. I can’t post the link - Sabretooth9

Friedman - Minnesota is a team that is looking around for help and willing to do a lot of things with their roster. The Kings also have situations out there like Toffoli and Kovalchuk. Vancouver is trying to move extra bodies. Calgary is also looking to make change. #Sabres
Friedman - I believe Botterill and Flames general manager Brad Treliving have been in contact here and there as of late. #Sabres |

Interesting to hear so much trade chatter involving the Sabres. Up until now, you never heard any leaked rumors coming out of JB’s office before one of his trades. It was always very tight lipped over there.
So why now? Is the media just being used to assuage the frustration of fans? |

The actual quote from Friedman is far less of “teams talking trade” than it is “they talk now and then” |

At this point, I just hope something is coming too. Players must learn two things depending who they are:
1) Their performance isn't good enough, Botts will bring in players to replace them
2) A couple players (Jack, Montour, Skinner, couple others) need to know help is on the way |
