Well, he's on pace for 65sh points, 2nd leading scorer on a team devoid of scorers, and we have seen UFA contract run out of control. I know he is an RFA, but he'll get $7m. Skins got $9 x 8 and had 65 points.

Lol. Really? Now teams are conferring w the player, who has no clause whatsoever? Not.

They don't have to ask or tell the player ANYTHING.

If he were to be moved to a team that he didn't want to play for he could threaten to retire, which in turn would have the Kings having to eat a $3.75 million recapture penalty for the next 3 yrs. If he were to walk away he's only leaving $7 mil on the table over those final 3 yrs.

For the Kings and a team acquiring him I'd say its in the best interest for all parties to make sure said player is on board with whatever team wants him. So yes that involves asking the player without a NTC/NMC if they're ok with being sent to such and such team.


Lets not forget he has a history of putting up a fuss with not being on board with going to a team.
