it's a soft team that accepts losing
nothing is going to change as long as this is the core, and the man behind the bench
I miss housley, even he would have done a better job and he has no clue - homiedclown
Yep, Might as well Have Pomminville, Vanek and Stafford back.

A friend of mine is a long time coach. His strategy is send with aggression in every option play and attack Jackson as the focus. Hit him in every single option play, even if it means missing the hand off to the back (leave that for your second level guys). Essentially, make Jackson limp. - kingcong39
Lol, that would wear him down by the 4th qtr for sure.
Problem us the score would be like last night's game. |

Sorry, that logic is wrong. Dahlin is a star for the Sabres and was headhunted.
To stop it, you don't go after the thug, you go after their star, and do so twice as hard.
Or go after Point AND Kucherov. Escalate...two eyes for one tooth
But, the Sabres won't, so you don't hff have to worry. - IonSabres
That's kind of the thing... Sabres have no deterrent.
Tampa is certainly not a heavy, grinding team. But, they have Maroon, Cernak, Coburn et al. Even guys like Paquette and Killorn will drop 'em or throw a retaliatory hit.
Maroon would look good in Buffalo... next year. |

I'm all for reports, or I used to be, but it's time to pull the trigger.
We are going to have to overpay because it's evident that this team needs a shake up. - thatsapickle
He can’t force another GM to pull the trigger
And overpaying is a bad idea imo |

that same jeff carter that would be 37 years old in the final year of the contract

Risto lovers have to be after watching the game last night...0 (Zero) hits from our big, strong, physical Dman. In fact, 1 hit in last 4 games, while posting -3 over those games.
He sucks.
Jack, Sam and Skinner were each -2 last night |

Luke Schenn was a physical beast. He hammered several Sabres.
Tampa has upped their toughness big time, and are getting their game together, hopefully for a nice long run ending in a championship. |

9 forward back for Risto. |

Cheering for us to lose again yet? - jdfitz77
Nope, I’ll let you know by January 1st though.
This team has played better hockey then last years team and I think has shown they can play with the big dogs the last few games (Apart from a 2:07 second stretch last night). |

He needs to do something for sure.
I have been on the Xmas break train as far as timing goes. And I would expect 1 move of significance...maybe another at the TDL.
I do not want him fired, as it will setback the team another several years as the new GM remolds the team to fit his vision.

I would think this would be a very attractive spot for a GM this offseason if that were the case.
Eichel, Dahlin, Cozens, Joker, Skinner, Mitts, Montour and Reinhart (could be used as trade chips if not resigned), and another top 5-10 pick in a stacked draft class.
Also given the fact that 80% of the roster is on expiring deals it would be the closest thing you could get to an expansion team, with only one boat anchor contract in Okposo. I’m sure Risto could be moved.

Let Rob Ray in the locker room so he can tell the ladies to grow some. Just embarrassing. So many soft players on this team |

I don't see Botts letting Risto go for a 3rd liner, and he sure isn't getting a 2nd line player 1:1 for him unless it is an older guy with a couple years left (Koivu, Staal types).
To get a Top 6 player of reasonable age, it would take a package of pick(s) and prospect(s), which I would do for sure, depending on the player..but an AA or Tuch type. |

I keep feeding the data on Jackson into the handy dandy Defense Wins NFL Computer Simulator, NE edition. It keeps giving a solution of; second quarter concussion. |

i'm not saying you're wrong, but what are the options?
Stick with it? That's not a viable option, in my opinion.
Make a move? Tough because it takes two to tango, but he needs to infuse something into this lineup.
How many more years of Jack are we going to waste? How much more of Dahlin are we going to lose? |

If he's not up to the task, then they need to bring someone in to do the job. It is literally his job to do it. If he cant, he shouldn't have a job
We have 120 premium Botterill defensemen. Figure it out |

He has the bargaining tools, but GMs know he is in a position of weakness. He has to improve the team, so every GM will be looking to fleece him.
He can't afford another O'Reilly deal. He can't afford to sit on his hands.
He needs to make a swing. |
