55 points? Da (frank) are you smoking. There’s 58 games left and he has 9 points. You think he’s gonna score 46 points in 58 games? Lol I think 40ish points is more likely.

...and if he did end up with getting 55 points this season he'd most likely get a raise.

I’ll be surprised if:

A) He finishes with more than 30 points.
B) He finishes the season with the Pens

EDIT: If he doesn’t start scoring goals with more regularity I expect the Pens to attempt a “change of scenery” trade.

Only in 3 on 3 they don’t get stopped. It’s simply a coin toss of which nhl teams best few players can capitalize on trading chance after chance. It’s stupid and goofy. Boomer? I’m 31.

I was browsing NST looking at all the metrics...Galchenyuk leads all penguins in IPP, Individual Point Percentage. Havent look up the calculation yet. 2nd is Crosby, so im guessing a high number is good.

Edit: its just pts/point while on ice...

First time I heard of it. Straight from the sites glossary:

"IPP - Individual Point Percentage, the percentage of goals for that player's team while that player is on the ice that the player earned a point on. Total Points/Goals For"

EDIT: even with this explanation Im still trying to wrap my head around how he's 2nd to Crosby for this...hmmm

Hes first, crosby is second. It was total, not 5v5. I think he was 4th 5v5.

No revelation here, but goalies are the biggest rollercoaster players in the NHL and maybe most sports. Could Murray be playing better? Sure, but the Pens could also be getting a lot worse out of many other other goalies. Murray a worse start to last year's season then played great in the second half, and wasn't even close to the reason they lost in the playoffs. I truly believe he's a player who takes a little time to settle in and we'll see another strong late-season performance.

Many here, just this past off-season, were convinced Jarry was a nothing; not even a back-up and now, after seven games, they want him to be the starter over Murray. I think Murray gets right around what you said and I could even see the Pens throwing a ton of term at him to get him closer to $6M.

I like Jarry and always viewed him as an NHL goalie, maybe not a starter, but I always believed he was capable of being an above average back-up. Is he an NHL starter? I'm not sure, but do the Pens want to take the gamble that many other teams have in the past? There have been more than a few times a team trades for a back-up who had a stellar BACK-UP season, only to realize, "oh, he's not as good as a starter." Bernier and Talbot immediately come to mind.

Let's see what kind of season both goalies have and if the Pens want to move Murray they can still get a good return for him this off-season.

Gotta give you credit there, you have always been on his side as far as I can remember. I've always kind of been impartial to him, didnt really care much about him. If he stayed he stayed, if he didn't he didn't....that was until this season. He's showing me things that make me want him to stay.

Can’t disagree with anything said here but..

1) Brevity

2) Yes, Rino (and others) have believed in Jarry and like his style of play BUT they were also using him, Rust, and ZAR as throw-ins in potential trades all summer long. How much can you like a guy if at the end of the day they’re just some throw-in? Probably not much

👆🏻

Maybe a 55 point pace from when he started this point streak. So excluding the injury and his initial slump. I believe he’s got 6 points in his last 6 games and only that PPG was on the PP

Doesn’t look like any changes up front and Ruhwedel will play with Petts 👍🏻👊🏻

You continue to harp on this without actually reading.

Trade-proposals based on players THE MEDIA state are in play is not the same as not believing in them. Basing proposals on what insiders state are being discussed as well as what players may garner in return is again, not personal views on players. It’s going off what people who know more than we do reporting on rumors.

My personal views on players are return or not always in line with reality, so forgive me for at least trying to be realistic.

Tanev is right behind them too. It is a tool to try and correlate how certain players drive production. I don't put much stock into it. There are plenty of scenarios where a player is directly contributing to the goal being scored that isn't going to get a point on the play.

Anytime someone disagrees with you they’re illiterate

Anytime someone agrees with that person it doesn’t matter

Anytime I disagree with someone I’m “upset because they don’t agree with me and am wrong” ... except that I’m on here admitting I’m wrong a lot like: Galchenyuk, Petts, JJ, the Avs, etc

He’s got 9 pts in 15 games. It’s not terrible. I think 38-44 is going to be the range he ends up in. 55 seems like a stretch. 50 could be possible if he goes on a tear but I think 40 is probably where he ends up.

Based off those projections how many of those are ES vs PP?

Before the season started I had him pegged for 40 ES points. I think he’s looked good in a support role on the PP but he’s not getting a handle of his 1T’s which is disappointing

Pfft I dunno lol 4 of his 9 points have come on the PP so if we're going to use that as a measuring stick, I'd say maybe 23 ES points and 17 PP Points?

Yeah, no clue. We haven’t heard much of anything, but knowing what we do about Sully I have to think he’s not winning anyone over.
