I was thinking about the Sabres’ lack of response to Jack, Dahlin, and Sobotts getting smoked.
Perhaps part of it is the fact we have so many pending free agents on the team. Many of these guys already have a foot out of the door here. They don’t want to take themselves off the ice through injury, penalty or suspension.
Comes down to money and looking out for yourself. It’s not a compelling argument for an agent to say, “you need to pay my client top dollar. He got his face caved in by Cernak and missed six games.”
What does surprise me a little, is how poorly some of these pending free agents are producing though. But I’m sure the agent’s argument will be, “my client played for the Sabres. What did you expect him to produce?” - PrinceChill
i'm willing to bet there would have been a response to both of those early in the season
but when the team is freefalling in the standings for the 2nd year in a row and the coach is making bizarre lineups, i'm not surprised when the players look like they dont care at all

What GM is going to look at a heartless, gutless player who won't stick up for his teammates and pay him top dollar?
These players need a wake up call. And so does the GM. Actually, the GM can give these players a wake up call, in the form of a trade. - Powerslave
Seems like it’s all analytics now. There’s no gutfull/gutless analytic. And behavior is tailored toward that. |

It’s also a lot on Ralph ....... Ralph is taking the same coaching approach with Risto and McCabe. The analytics say. Risto and McCabe suck playing together. Yet he strolls them out like his predecessors.
Ralph has mentioned certain advances stats before but doesn’t follow through with trusting them.
If botts won’t move a player ..... Ralph heads to make adjustments to give him the optimum game day roster. Maximize the roster and see what happens.

This guy is really starting to piss me off. |

This could be another “race to the bottom” year. |

They tried to, but Lehner wanted a multi year deal, which they didn't want to offer. So then he took a 1 year deal somewhere else because a man's gotta eat - jcragcrumple
Last years lehner would not have boosted this team into the playoffs. That was his point.
I disagree. Strongly |

But why though? That’s the part that makes no sense. You have pieces to move to get a forward.
Letting the season go would be dumb.
Botts needs to step up |

He likes his high pick fix. Like a junkie saying, “ just one more hit and I’ll go clean tomorrow (next year).”
Ralph is here to be a pal, cheer up the guys if they’re feeling a little downtrodden. |

You need 2 people to tango, it's not like Botts call's another GM and says I want this trade, and the other GM says sure what ever you want. And Krueger is what 24 games in to this year, he is working with what he has |

Overpaying for good players is never a bad thing and could entice a gm
Overpaying for an average or okay player would be bad |

I agree, but from what people say on this board, everybody sucks, so what pieces do we have to entice. |

Cobblestone or 716 for wings ?
I’ve been to 716 a few times but haven’t ate there.
Don’t have time to go to Gabriel’s Gate unfortunately |

No 716, but I usually hit up Mammoser's before I go to the game, but the last time I was at Cobblestone they were decent |

I'd rather pay a top-10 first for a really good player than more 3rds for bums. Just get real talent, not more lottery tickets. How the hell do you sell this fan base on another 8th overall pick? |

The caveat is a really good player makes our team better and probably not bottom 10, therefore devaluing the first |

Unless he meant trading the pick after season and lotto took place and we happened to be sitting at 8.
Even in that case it’s tough to move that pick. |
