. The only one was skinner that worked
- Sabretooth9

and you reward skinner and his 40 goals with a 4th line center or a winger as a center once he decides to commit to buffalo

For the record, i'm the one that sent a PM to Homie telling him that Botts made a call regarding Carter. So people need to lay off him.

Depends on the player ...... if you get me a good player like Johnny hockey or a good player. Sure. Always overpay for the good player

If it’s Sam Bennett and overpay. Then shame on you.

The pennies on the dollar trades have failed botts. The only one was skinner that worked

- Sabretooth9

Guys like Johnny hockey don’t really get traded though
At least not often, unless there’s some other kind of issue

I can assure you Botts wants to improve the team
Just seems like he’s not gonna make a bad trade to do so
I’m ok with that

- jdfitz77

For those who want everyone fired, be careful what you wish for.

We’ve had how many coaches turn us down? How many times has Gm candidates turned us down? How long did LaFontaine last?

This place is a black hole of constant turnover

Pegulas Always Get Their Man

Buffalo sports fans have perfected the fine art of waiting and winning.

For coaches and star players that is.

The anxiety and mood swings were well worth it when the Buffalo Bills landed coveted free agent defensive end Mario Williams. In the end, Bills fans got their man. Then Bills owner Ralph Wilson and his management team assessed their organizational needs and aggressively courted Williams. In the end, Williams saw the value in Buffalo's organization and signed a long term deal there. Williams embraced Buffalo and the rest is Bills history.

The Pegulas shocked the hockey world when they charmed NHL a-listers Steve Ott, Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff to Buffalo to play for their Sabres.

Terry and Kim Pegula also convinced Rex Ryan that Buffalo is the best place for he and his family, too.

Now, we sit and wait for Mike Babcock to make up his mind. His final decision will be known hopefully by this time on Wednesday. Babcoxk has spoken with Buffalo, Toronto, San Jose, St. Louis and Detroit. He has heard their pitches and seen their compensation package proposals. Today, he will meet briefly with his boss Ken Holland. Then, he will go home to speak with his wife and kids. Then, he will render his final decision.

The Toronto Star reported late Monday night Babcock is leaning towards re-signing with the Detroit Red Wings on a short-term basis.

Why?

Are the Red Wings going to win the Presidents Cup and Stanley Cup next season? Are Jimmy Howard and/or Petr Mrazek going to lead the NHL is goals against and save percentage? Is 37 year old Pavel Datsyuk going to win the Selke? Is 35 year old Henrik Zetterberg going to score 50 goals? Is 36 year old Nik Kronwall going to win the Norris Trophy? Are Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha going to play in Detroit next season and battle for rookie of the year honors?

Babcock knows the Wings like the back of his hand. He knows every scouting report on every player and prospect. Chapter and verse. So, why sign a short term deal to stay in Detroit?

Babcock hasn't made a major impulse purchase yet. So, why the buyer's remorse? Buying Buffalo isn't like buying an expensive blue and gold convertible.

Mike, nut up and tear off the damn bandage already.

Take your two year, $6.5 million contract extension in Detroit. Say goodbye to $40+ million in guaranteed salary and the opportunity to build a powerhouse in Buffalo using golden bricks Jack Eichel, Evander Kane, Zemgus Girgensons, Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Ristolainen, Nikita Zadorov, Tyler Ennis, Matt Moulson, Zach Bogosian, Mark Pysyk, Jake McCabe amd others. Tim Murray may end up trading for Datsyuk clone Ryan O'Reilly. Maybe Tyler Toffoli, too.

Buffalonians have been down this road before.

If Babcock stays in Detroit fine. So be it. Tim Murray would be wise to hire Luke Richardson and Jeff Blashill as his co-head coaches in Buffalo.

The Pegulas still have time left on the BabClock.

Is Babcock open to change?

He can’t force another GM to make him a good offer though

Do u want him to overpay?
I don’t think making bad trades out of desperation is a good idea

I have to return to this

Excuse for Botterill:

"He put himself in a desperate position. It's too much to expect him to get out of it"

This is insane. The defense is that he did his job badly

Maybe if u b!tch & complain some more,
Botts will read your posts & make a bad trade just to make u happy
That is, till u start b!tching & complaining about how much he gave up in the deal

Does all the constant complaining make u feel any better?
Maybe u take this a bit too seriously
It’s just sports dude

the point is we are wasting time

the roster should have been gutted this offseason. or last off season. or when he first got here.

its still almost entirely the same.

I suppose
But I’d guess that most teams don’t have the Cap room to fit those guys now

Can’t force someone to take them

This is a board where people talk about the Sabres

And

The sabres are bad

Ergo:

People are going to talk about the Sabres being bad.

At least I'm discussing the topic at hand. You're complaining about people complaining. Feed me some more primo Botterill excuses

He has made mistakes, but he also used what was available to him to bring players in, it's not like are system was stacked that he could use as trade chips. Everybody wants a move, but be a good move, he's not the only GM with a team that is struggling, and most important he has no cap room, as does half the NHL, and the other half is using LTIR to stay under the cap. I could be wrong but after Black Friday you could see some moves because teams only have to pick up what's left on the contract for the year.

2 wins in 12 games

playing bogo or montour as a winger is the response for the needed change

the secondary scorers, for the most part, are still not getting it done

at some point it's not the other goalies are great, it's our shooters f@cking suck

- homiedclown

I get the frustration, but losing a trade isnt going to help.

I still believe botts has a free pass, that's why he's not giving up futures for now

Discussing what moves we’d like to see Botts make is much different than the constant b!tching that you’re doing

I’d ask you what type of deal you’d like to see made, but I’m sure you’ll just respond like u typically do, saying something like “i don’t know what’s available... blah blah blah”

do you guys remember when chris neil didn't take liberties on chris drury because adam mair and andrew peters deterred it robz222

No, but I do remember when Peter's and Mair and I forget who else took revenge liberties with the skill players on the ensuing faceoff and the fight fest that followed.
You must have forgotten.

doesn't change olofsson getting more ice time then skinner
sobotka on the second line
a winger playing second line center, when healthy
casey being a bust as a center
and still being a 1 one line team with a little pop from the lockport line here and there

and this d is beyond brutal, still
