Discussing what moves we’d like to see Botts make is much different than the constant b!tching that you’re doing

I’d ask you what type of deal you’d like to see made, but I’m sure you’ll just respond like u typically do, saying something like “i don’t know what’s available... blah blah blah”

Well if it’s just trash,
than what makes u think he can even make a move that will help?

- jdfitz77

this team is rotten to its core. moving literally anyone out will help in the long term.

i dont think that can even be argued at this point

3rd for beaulieu
5th for wilson
2nd and 5th for miller
3rd for vesey

none of these trades made us better

No, but that also weren’t premium assets
He took a shot with some of these guys,
hoping they’d help now
And bridge the gap till the guys he’s drafted are ready to contribute

doesn't change olofsson getting more ice time then skinner
sobotka on the second line
a winger playing second line center, when healthy
casey being a bust as a center
and still being a 1 one line team with a little pop from the lockport line here and there

and this d is beyond brutal, still

- homiedclown

i think this is on the coach.. that D shouldn't be this bad

Good points.

We all loved the miller trade
Mitts is still really young and wasn't a sure bet at 7
Olofsson looks great , no excuse for skinners icetime

If it’s the long term you’re concerned about,
then letting (for example) Vesey go at the end of the year will have the same effect (in the long run) as trading him now

And why exactly would teams want to trade for our trash anyways???

I disagree. They played better than the Bruins and Bolts for 5/6 periods in the last week.

I wish I knew how to post articles, but

I read an article on our pk. Most teams run a 2/2 box.
We run 2 on d , 1 forward basically in the slot and 1 guy chasing at he points.

Leads to breakdowns

Wondering if our defense is running something obscure?

Making everyone look terrible

I agree with you on this post.

Last year we looked lost also on d

Being the only coach holdover, he should be under scrutiny.

Krueger seems like the loyal type though

2 more guys who can (frank)ing score is the most important

Yup.
Well, until another team takes out said two scorers and feels no response.

Can’t force good players to come here

And how long did it take for the Caps to win a Cup?
How many years has it taken for Tampa to build a legit contender around Stamkos?

Eichel isn’t Crosby
Sam isn’t Malkin
Unfortunately... to really build this team into a legit contender (in BUFFALO) we are going to have to draft & develop well

Can Botts do that?
Frankly, it’s way too soon to tell one way or the other

the point is we are wasting time

the roster should have been gutted this offseason. or last off season. or when he first got here.

its still almost entirely the same.

- robz228

The problem is he had two choices.

Overpay for mediocre middle 6 talent, which would take long term or overpriced deals to get guys to come here

Or

Start from scratch and use band aids until some draft picks were ready to contribute

People act like he can just sign a bunch of UFA’s and fix the middle six of the lineup.

Asplund has been here for 10 games now. How much better than Larsson is he? Any?

Olofsson was a prize add to the roster and it took him 20 games to look like an actual forward 5 on 5.

I agree on having Sobotka here, and I think his biggest mistake was not trading Ristolainen a while ago.

But pretending a guy who’s added Skinner, Mojo, Miller, Jokiharju, Montour, Vesey all in the past year has “kept everything the same” is total nonsense.

He needed another forward. It didn’t happen yet
He needed Mittelstadt to be better, it hasn’t happened yet

Too many olives lately?

And I think Fans are just mad. I can’t even watch a full game and I love hockey.

If I had botts job. I would not he able to sleep or eat until I did something

People need to lay off Homie, I wasn't talking about Botts

In Botterill's defence, his predecessor traded a 3rd for Vesey, and didn't even get him.

So...progress?

What do you really expect to get with 3rd and 5th rnd picks. And could you tell me that Vesey would only have 1 goal right now. Miller hasn't been great but hasn't been horrible either. And I said mistakes have been made. Are system was bare when Botts got here, players that should have been taking spots over the last few years were traded away for a quick fix and well that didn't work out so well.

Dreger said that Botts has “been working hard” to make trades for forward help

Making bad trades is a terrible idea

I still think that it's not a coincidence that a ridiculous amount of deadweight comes off the books next year, possibly even more if Okposo goes to IR. That's why bringing back guys like Larsson and Girgensons on one-year deals don't really matter if that's the plan. The problem Botterill will run into, other than a restless fanbase, is that he's left himself absolutely zero margin for error. If we are still having this conversation at Thanksgiving of 2020, he won't and shouldn't last until January 1, 2021.

Are any other GMs making trades now?

I must just be missing all the amazing moves that were available to Botts that he passed on

It's almost as if he should have addressed it over the summer. Or a year ago. Or 2.
