I might, yes. I suspect he is overvaluing some players. It may not be a bad trade just because he doesn't like it.
That said, we likely won't know.

- IonSabres

Maybe he is
But if that’s the case, what help is he really gonna get by moving our overvalued guys?
Probably not much, right??

i see its been brought up a few times that we have a lot of money coming off the books this coming spring for acquisitions. Thats all well and good but the environment that has been created is not going to allow us to get any good UFA without over paying.. therefore im not seeing that as being a great thing. all these adds are going to have to come through trades with time left on the contract

For the record, i'm the one that sent a PM to Homie telling him that Botts made a call regarding Carter. So people need to lay off him.

You just want credit for the rumor, come on...

You act like a trade is a straight up 1:1 when for a Top 6 that is not how it usually works..Roster Player, Prospect, Pick..yet you conviently ignore that in your arguments.

So how do you want the team fixed...lay it out since you generally nix others suggestions.

Risto, a 2nd and a 3rd (vesey and miller) for a 2C

Dahlin-Montour
Pilut-Joker
McCabe-Gilmore
Bogo
Scandella

I bet we're a lot better

That's far from a sure thing. Cozens too, for that matter, although I have more faith in that one.

If Botterill missed on Mittelstadt, it's one more parallel to Murray

- jcragcrumple

Fair

And I guess i should’ve added 6k to that group too

Of course this team needs more help
But there’s a Cap to consider when building this team
We can’t just go overpaying UFAs to get them here now, or be trading for overpriced guys that may be available

Botts should be operating as if Mitts & Cozens will work out
Remains to be seen if they will or not,
but u can’t prepare like your top10 picks will be busts
That just doesn’t make sense

Good teams aren't build thru free agency most of the time.

Pat kane? Local guy?

- Boss34

No poop.
But the Dreamers all believe with ~$37m in Cap Space on 7/1/20 Thaf Bitts is going to fix the roster presto.

The time to move a player like Risto is in the offseason.
You will remember I was all about moving him back then, in a package to acquire a 2C or 2RW.
But I was told to stop whining cause trades could happen in Aug or Set..al la Skinner.

Now the excuses are, among others
- is it is hard to move large contracts inseason, so don't expect it.
- we don't want him to overpay

He has 14 NHL Dmen and 5 - 6 Top 9 forwards.
He knew it going into the season.
Yes, overpay a bit to get a Top 6 and a Top 9 forward.
Much cheaper to acquire such as a Trade than FA at those prices we saw.

According to Homie,
he didn’t get great offers for Risto

Dahlin plays better with Bogo and the Sabres would get their ass kicked with him as their # 1 D and with Pilut and Gilmore playing ahead of Bogo and Scandella. Change for the sake of change is not always good.

Just in case people forget, and think that this GM needs to be fired because we don’t have a 2nd line-

We finished a season with 62 points while having ROR, Kane, Eichel, Reinhart and Pominville.

Botterill had to completely remake the blue line. Had to get new goalies because ours had personal issues and came with a 4 mil qualifying tag.

I’m pissed that ALL OF 55,19,21,28,22 are here. 2 should be gone.

But pretending he’s “ignored” the forwards while picking 2 in the top 10 and adding Skinner, Sheary, Johansson is just a bad take.

A guy who looked like a great prospect hasn’t developed quick as people thought. So Botterill has to address it now.

If he ignores it again that’s on him

Ristolainen was on the ice for the first 3 Tampa goals. And was the direct reason for two of them. Was on for both Florida goals.

How much more of an ass kicking would Dahlin get as opposed to the perennial worst +/- D man in the league?

Pretty much everything that everyone else wants
We do need to get tougher
We do need more scoring

It’s not that i don’t want those moves to be made
I just recognize that good deals aren’t available right now
Which sucks
But it’s the way it is

Does Botterill have an issue with black players? Hasn't drafted a black player yet, signed one, or traded for one. But has traded black players at any given opportunity Little suspicious from Botts.

Traded

Evander Kane
Justin Bailey
Nicolas Baptiste
Devante Stephens

Okposo better watch out. He might be next.

You’re not worried it would kill his confidence & hurt Dahlin’s development?

We can go around and around on this, but adding 2 forwards wasnt enough, especially when one of them is Vesey, who came at the expense of probably a better option in pominville. You can throw Olofsson in there too if you want, even though he played late last year.

He replaced Berglund, Tage and Pominville with Mojo, Olofsson and Vesey.

Sure, it was something. It wasnt nearly enough

- jcragcrumple

Pominville doesn't move the needle here, at all. If the Sabres sign Pominville and don't trade for Vesey, the difference in the win column is negligible at best.

So, he is overvaluing Risto...
but it is going to improve over time? Like when you are in a pinch during the season.

This whole excuse game is ridiculous.
The situation was very plain to see in July, hence why all the frustration and complaining.
He didn't do enough. Fans want to see good hockey. Fans are pissed, and are pointing fingers rightfully so squarely at him.
Now we are told, hang on what do you want him to do? Tough to make meaningful trades inseason.
It is a classic circle jerk.
He deserves it, he created it.
Period.

The big, tough, physical Dman looks great hanging 1 hit and -3 on the board right?

When the goalie sucks, bad goals go in no matter who is on the ice and I guess you want top 2 center while you are jerking the monkey for your Risto too?

You were happy with the vesey - pommer switch
You liked the Johansson signing
Olofsson looks great
