Sure, refs were pretty poopty as usual, but that wasn't the reason the Oilers lost. Mediocre effort all around except Mikko. Klef & Nurse have to be smarter, and Jones wasn't very good tonight, not terrible, but a few too many mistakes. Forecheck wasnt as effective as it has been the last couple games. Lots of room for improvement.
The good news is after a weak effort they usually come out hard and play a solid game.

NHL should be ashamed with how poor the refs have been this game. I've watched 2 separate missed calls of interference near the bench putting oilers in headlocks that now the oilers have to self police. That 5 min major directly impacted this game when it should've only been a 2min minor, on top of that how do you allow a player to go to the penalty box without his helmet creating a direct 5 on 4 for the opposition. Tempers are now flaring and more injuries are happening.

I'm curious to watch tippett after this game on if he loses his Sh** on it.

Would they have given up 50 shots if the call vs Larsson had been 2 instead of 5, and if they hadn't taken another call in that time, and another dman been injured and missed 25+ minutes of game time during that meh call?

Yes, it was a penalty. Probably a 2 minute call, and not a 5+ game. Did it cost them the game? No. But it shifted the entirety. Without that call the Oilers arent down to 4 dmen for the next 20+-ish minutes after fighting a 5-3 during a 5 minute powerplay against. And minus a complimentary player who is now in concussion protocol.

How would you feel if Backlund got knocked out of the game, and probably a couple more, then Hanni got eliminated from that game for just protecting himself and keeping his head protected?
