What would you want from the Sabres for Couturier? - kingcong39
i dont think it is realistic that the flyers trade him; unless it was a really lopsided trade which wont happen.
Probably reinhart to start the conversation. Cozens or middlestat. Just off the cuff thinking |

Majority of flyers fans probably laugh. Though the thing is when #14 needs a new contract in a few years will or should the flyers pay him 9+ million to keep him? he will have a lot of hard miles on his body,
If they move him think they can do better than a 1 for 1 with reinhart. That is not a knock on reinhart by any means either.
I dont think the JVR contract is horrible by the way. - daryl stanley
Ya, I suspected that would be the answer. Sam is on track for 61sh points, Couturier for 64sh...no big difference there. Both good posession drivers, Sean gets more DZs though. Probably closer in reality than many think, but an edge to Couturier in play. Sean a couple years older.
JVR on ths downslope at 30, which started a couple years ago...on pace for 33 pts for $7m for 3 more seasons. Not what I would want. |

points wise not a big diff as you said. Cant say i am 100% aware of how reinhart is defensively though couterier is a top end center. I have no issue moving him if the price is right. I am in way way minority though...
JVR will still get you the 25-35 goals. Though i get why wouldnt want him. |

Idk if they showed it on the WGR broadcast last night but on CBC they kept showing Botts, Sexton, Pegula, and company in the suites.
Everyone was there to witness the game last night. |

Only concern for me would be the fact that Couts is due a new deal and his next contract would take him deep into his 30’s.
Trading a 60 point winger for a 60 point Center who is also a top 3-5 defensive player at his position in the NHL is a no brainer.
I’d keep Sam though unless we are getting a player of similar age back though.

JVR is a good player. Sabres need is more on the right side though. Voracek is too expensive for too long.
Sam is good defensively, and sneaky smart. It would hurt to let him go on the right, but they have a need for a good 2C.
Oh well, thanks for the banter. |

well thats my big concern as well, the future contract. Thats why i would have no issue selling high on him if the flyers choose that route; which imo they will not. |

Alright, let's look at Giroux. I know he wears the C, but has a pretty big contract for the next couple of years. What would it take for him. We would need to be pretty close to money in - money out. |

Not disagreeing with you one bit. I’d just like to see someone a bit younger then Couts coming back if we were to deal Sam. |

Yes msg showed pegula and the assistant coach that sits in the press box. They didn’t show botts or sexton.
My only Concern with the gang all there is ..... “hey this team played the leafs very tough. Changes aren’t needed. “. Trade wise |

Yup, not seeing it either.
He's right though, they need to unload a couple big contracts, and Sabres don't have Cap space presently. |

Giroux while still a great player, is in the decline years of his career. Not sure I’d want to eat that big contract for 2 maybe 3 solid years of play. |

Thinking about currency botts has to play with besides the obvious.
Bryson and Borgen in Rochester could be some good pieces. Not downing them or think they suck. I think they could have value. We have Ryan Johnson and samuelsson in the pipeline coming soon. |
