Could you imagine that team with Jones? Terrifying.

I could not believe Yzerman took Drouin. When Florida took Barkov I thought they wer for sure taking Jones.

Wow... I've been thinking Lafferty might need to go back down to the A in recent games. That was sweet!!!!!
- madmike71

We all did. To be fair, it was only Pouliot he abused.

I think he's having a good game. I'm not a huge Simon fan.....largely 'cause I don't think he belongs in the top 6 (more Sully's fault). I think he's having his best game in at least a month. I never expect him to score but at least he's setting up chances.
- madmike71

That’s exactly what bothers me about it: how many of those chances would Kahun have buried?

I felt it had more to do with swapping Hornqvist for Tanev myself. Their games just don't mix.

Hornqvist is still effective, unfortunately I think his best fit is with Bjugstad.

I know injuries have been a major factor, but I don't know how Simon, Bjug, Hornie wasn't a lock for our 3rd line heading into the season after their performance in the playoffs.

I remember Florida getting roasted for picking Barkov over Drouin and Jones.

Murray is good for at least one softie a game it seems. ZAR is horrible.

They needed somewhere to put McCann. LW and C seemed pretty set with Galchenyuk and Bjugstad at the time.

Sigh, Murray is so off his game. November can't end soon enough.

Its not just the softie, its when he lets them in. Pens were dominating, 15 shots on goal in the period carrying all the momentum them Murray has to let in a baby poop goal to deflate the entire team.

Same story every game this year.

That was a nice shot. Really bad turnover by Petts - unfortunate because this 4th line has had a lot of good shifts

Is it just me or is every November an absolute dumpster fire for Matt Murray?

It seems like his cup runs was a long time ago... I can't remember the last time he stole a game for us...

I think Petts has been struggling for a while. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see a 3rd pairing dmen that doesn't deserve 4mil a year. He's not another Dumo...which is who Rutherford was comparing him to.

Do they call interference anymore? Seems like the D get to clutch and grab zone entry forwards...

Pettersson is too much of a bean pole to be Dumoulin. Sophomore slump, can't find a decent partner, or unable to handle bigger minutes, he's definitely struggled this year.

Does it feel like the rest of the league has figured out what the Pens are doing on the PK and how to attack it?

How is it bad asset management? I suggested trading away a goalie that is going to want 7+ mil a year and get a return that included another highly touted goalie and a superstar as well as a pick if that superstar doesnt re-sign.

I would say that its good asset management to get rid of goalie who is on the slide before you have to pay him an atrocious contract.

Trading a core piece for a rental is stupid. If you dont want to sign Murray for that much, that is fine. A lot of people including me would agree. Where we disagree is the value you get in return for trading him. Teams have given goalies big contracts, just because you dont want to, doesnt mean someone else wont value him big and pay him.

Trading him for a rental makes 0 sense. If you want to trade him in the offseason and roll the dice on Jarry, fine. But our target should be a young winger or dman who is under team control. Not a rental who could just pack up and leave.

Shero is not one of the dumb GMs you can rob and run away.

Any GM trading for Murray has to wonder which tender he's actually getting. Plus... They need to be willing to give him a big deal. IDK.... Not sure of his value these days. Those cup wins are a distant memory and Murray has become as inconsistent as it gets.

If this team could just stay healthy 🤔 that would be refreshing. Really could use a game where either goalie steals a win.

The Crosby/Malkin Era has featured a lot of villians such as Ovechkin, Giroux, the 2013 Bruins, the 2012 Flyers, 2008 Red Wings, etc. The list can go on for a while.

But the biggest villian of the era should be Dan Bylsma IMO. Guy took anyway any real chance we had in 2010, 2012, 2013, & 2014. Shero should've fired him after that joke in 2012 against the Flyers.

- SuperHenderson13

You guys are the villians

I think Tojo nailed it: he plays better with a solid partner who’s defensive minded. For what Schultz has been providing it would’ve made more sense to keep Gudbranson with Petts and replace Schultz internally with Marino

I’m going to take a stab at it, roast away 🤪

To Pittsburgh: Taylor Hall, Sami Vatanen, Nikita Gusev

To NJD: Alex Galchenyuk, Bryan Rust, Marcus Pettersson, Nick Bjugstad, Tristan Jarry, 2020 1st, 2021 2nd

NJD gets their goalie, some young forwards, a younger LD, futures, and some players they may be able to fit/flip. No conditions as Pitt was given permission to talk to Hall and his agent beforehand and negotiated a 7x11 contract which is somewhat frontloaded with bonuses but more importantly lockout proof

Here’s my reasoning: UFA Vats for RFA Petts is probably somewhat close in value give or take. To a team like NJ Jarry is probably about worth Gusev. Then they get a more than fair haul for Hall. I’ll miss Rust more than most but this what we’d get

Jake-Sid-Hall
Gusev-Geno-Kahun
Tanev-McCann-Hornqvist
Simon-Blueger-ZAR

Dumo-Letang
Vats-Marino
JJ-Kola

DeSmith
