He had one play yesterday where he went deep into double coverage and didn't have the zip to get it over the top on the defenders. I'm not saying the wheels are falling off but the end is nigh - jcragcrumple
He's even having problems with the shorter throws. |

It will be interesting to see what the Bills do in FA next year when they have 90 million in cap space to play with. Either trade, FA they need WR, CB, another OL, and a kicker |

I believe models for quarterbacks show very little steady decline. One day they just fall off a cliff and never get it back.
Lets hope this is the cliff for brady. Then lets hope he's too stubborn and plays for 2 more years. |

That means you think Skinner is going to be a 20 to 30 point player starting as soon as next year or the year after? - kingcong39
I think his goal production is going to go down which is where he gets his points and he makes 9 mil not 5 or 6+ and brings nothing else to the game. Many games he is already barely noticeable, and he is in his prime. |

If he brings nothing else to the game and is barely noticeable, how do you explain his line, with Larsson and Sheary, driving play and having an advantage on shots and chances? |

If you didn't know.
Hockey is literally three things
goals
assists
defense (which you're either good or bad at, no in between and absolutely no levels to)
Skinner isn't a play-maker and won't win a Selke -
So despite
Elite penalty drawing
Elite fore checking/takeaways
Top line level goals for%
Top line level scoring chances for %
Top line level possession metrics
.....Despite all of that, he's one dimensional

What does he bring? PP, PK, forecheck? Two-way play? Set up? What does he bring besides coming out of the woodwork, poking in a rebound, once in a while scoring a goal scorers goal with a shot? This will be interesting to read. |

Larsson is a very good defensive zone player. People moan and complain about those two playing together but he makes up for Skinner’s defensive deficiencies.
Now Sheary, he is making me miss Erod and that makes me want to puke. |

He literally does all of this except PK. I'll listen to him being bad on the powerplay but he's playing as a pivot and generally doesn't get to touch the puck. |

15 goals in his last 50 games. Taken off the top PP unit and when he’s on it doesn’t score, does not contribute to our bottom quarter of the league PK either.
For $9M I expect more.

What exactly are skinner's defensive deficiencies? Part of the reason he thrived with Eichel last year is because he made up for Eichel's deficiencies. |

remember guys when your team is bad at offense it is pivotal to only blame one of the 4 good players you have |

Skinner does not play defence nor does he back-check to even attempt to play defence, just ask Rod Brind’Amour.
Without the puck the guy is like Bambi unless he’s finding holes in the offensive zone to try to receive a pass and get a shot off. |

Nothing wrong with liking Skinner, appreciating what he does well, and understanding why he's considered one dimensional.

Who cared what Sheary makes?
You said Skinner brings nothing else and doesn't make other players better.
He's carrying that line, and Johansson sure looked good before he got hurt when he was playing with Skinner.
Johansson hasn't looked as good since his return. I wonder if not playing with Skinner has anything to do with that... |

Remember when this board was freaking out cause Eichel had 4 goals in his first 25 games last year ?
What did Skinner help exactly ? Skinner is an individual player in a team sport.
Eichel is on a 9 game point streak and our PP is non-existent. He looks like he really misses Jeff. He’s also on a career high pace for every statistical category. |

You can hold the puck all you want and use your figure skating training all you want but if you never set anyone up what good is it?
This "elite" forechecking is cute
You latch on to this elite pnalty drawing thinger but he hasn't drawn many this season.
We'll see how this 9 mill looks in 2 years because it is depreciating already. The Sabres couldn't trade him with that contract without a nice sweetener already.

Yes, he does.
He's one of the better zone exit forwards we have.
When you have hundreds of games showing that we score more than the other team when he's on the ice, no matter the center or linemates, I couldn't care less if he doesn't do the traditional things defensive forwards do.
When Skinner is on the ice, the Sabres score more than they're scored on.
Period. |

I bet he and Eichel could be a good PK pair. Reinhart, Mojo and Olofsson could be the other, but the scrubs would be shouting "they're taking our jerbs" |
