Uh, one player you had to buy every UFA year, the other was buying two years of UFA.
You realize how much Eichel would get on the open market, right? - sbroads24
You realize the Sabres didn’t have to be the ones to have buyers remorse right ?
Sharks didn’t have to sign Karlsson, Stars didn’t have to re up Benn, Jets didn’t have to give Wheeler all of those years, Philly didn’t have to sign Hayes, Vegas didn’t have to sign Stastny, Habs didn’t have to resign Price, Florida didn’t have to throw crazy money and term at Bob. Sabres didn’t have to sign Okposo, Canucks didn’t have to sign Ericsson, Oilers didn’t have to sign Lucic............... |

Green Bay won 2 of their last 4 and 3 of their last 6 before winning the superbowl in 2010
Philly went 3-2
The Patriots win every other year because they win 12 games every year and get a bye - jcragcrumple
The Giants also were 4-4 from November on in 2007. They won 6 in a row from mid-September until the end of October.
That said, if I had the choice, I still would rather have my team playing its best around playoff time, but you can't be a disaster at the beginning either, or it doesn't matter. |

Are you actually claiming they have buyers remorse “right now” as is present day, and then comparing a 27 year old who’s once again top 5 in EV goals to Milan Lucic??
Is this real? |

Kyle Okposo only makes 3 mil less than Skinner
Cant make this stuff up.
I think I’d rather overpay Skinner by 1-2 than Okposo by 4 mil - sbroads24
Yea and most on here celebrated the Okposo signing when it happened as well. |

No those are examples of buyers remorse. I guess you skipped over the other names on the list. |

In all seriousness, Pegulaville has a point to an extent, but he's taking it to an extreme. Teams that play better later in the season have a better chance of post season success. A team that starts 10-0 and then loses its final 6 and limps into the final wild card seed is most likely not going to make any noise in the playoffs. On the other hand, a team that starts 0-6 and then rattles off 10 straight is more likely playing better football at the time and could at the very least be a threat to win a playoff game or two. However, the reality is, both cases are extremes and rarely happen, if ever, in the NFL. That's where his defenses of Cleveland and Denver are way off base. Those teams have almost zero shot at the playoffs when you consider the amount of teams they have to leapfrog and tiebreakers, and the very reason is they were absolute garbage in the early part of the season.
It's the same reason why, in the NHL, if you're not at least with a grasp of a playoff spot by the end of November (i.e. US Thanksgiving), you're toast 99% of the time. - buffalofan19
Cleveland, Chicago, Oakland, NYJ all had winning records in November. The theory is bunk |

If the Flames are considering moving Gaudreau, the Sabres need to get the fax machine warm.
Hall, supposedly, is allowed to discuss extension but I don't see how the Sabres make that work.
The Sabres have the chance to get up to 2nd in the Division with a win tonight.
Will they play with desperation, or will they fall apart? |

It would cost a lot to get Gaudreau but I would be all for it.
His contract goes for another 2 more seasons and his cap hit currently is at $6,750,000 per year.
I would want to make sure him and Jack are on the same page and line and then work on an extension ASAP
It would cost Sam Risto and probably a 1st to get him though |

I think theyd want Montour instead of Risto, which Botterill wouldn't do
If the deal was Montour, Mitts and a 1st, I'd say yes all day, but they'd want Cozens or UPL instead of Mitts |

I still might do it. I know UPL is supposed to be great, but I think the scorer provides more value. |

Montour is good but this team just doesn't win with him in the lineup for some reason
I wouldn't move Cozens |

I think Cozens will be good, but I think with Gaudreau, you are trading 3 years of being effective now, versus 3 years 5-10 years from now. |

With that shot of his, he's most likely going to be a streaky player. There will be stretches of 8-10 games where he will have 6 goals, and then another stretch of 8-10 games where he will be essentially invisible. |

Disagree, he may go on 8-10 game scoreless streaks but he will not be invisible. His all around game is very impressive.
Even won a few battles the last couple games, which is where his by far biggest weakness is. |

You're referring to the score sheet, right? I only say this, because it looks to me like his play without the puck has looked significantly better as of late.
But a player like him you want on the score sheet as consistently as you can. |

He won the Paddle Battle?
I don't know what he or the team are thinking.
If he's good to go, which I am not sure how, they have to seem comfortable to make that decision. |

I did mean the score sheet. All the intangibles are great, but if a player like that isn't putting up the numbers, he isn't moving the needle at all. |

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has CTE. If he doesn't yet, he's probably will. It's actually really sad he's still playing
