I’m with them. I’d trade Marky and roll the dice with Demko and DP - Nucker101
JB won't trade him. |

If we're playing EA sports NHL19, sure, trade Marky @ TDL.
In the real world though he'll be resigned as we continue to bring Demko along.
I'd do 3 years. |

I'm for any creative trade, hopefully for a first or a good young player. - VanHockeyGuy
Demko would get a better return and Marky is a better goalie. Easy choice. Demko sucks and can’t even handle an around the world flight with a simple boo boo on his noggin. No more mush heads 😡 |

No, I'm sure New Jersey is still pissed at losing a 9th OA for Schneider |

Eventually one will have to move or you lose one to Seattle for nothing. |

There are a bunch of good goalie RFA's (UFA and RFA) next year.
Marky being one.
I don't think there'll be much of a market for Demko.
Perhaps in a package tho. |

Maybe.
Not necessarily tho.
You can always make a side deal to protect Demko. |

Marky turns 30 in January. How many prime years do you think he has left and are you sold on DP as a future starter more than you are with Demko? DP is playing great in Utica, but what if his ceiling is a Saros/Khubodin type?(both smaller goalies like him),
These all are factors that should be weighed in. |

Sure, but I'm just not a fan of having that type of investment in goaltending.
In that scenario:
1) You pay Marky some big bucks and when Demko's rookie deal is up, he'll want. rise too. I think we've all learned that having too much money locked up in the crease isn't the best way to build a team.
2) You give up a valuable asset to protect Demko
3) You miss out on the trade return you'd get had you traded one of them
4) You're banking on Francis being reasonable with his trade demand, he may even be stubborn and tell JB that he wants a goalie unless JB is willing to do something stupid in a trade
And I don't think you get Marky at 3 years or at under 5M like some of you are hoping. He'll want legit starter term/money and he'll get it from someone. |

I think Marky has another 5 years which should match our competitive window. I’m not high on Demko or Mikey. Trade demko and sign Marky and a decent backup who is a little bit younger |

I was on that wagon this summer even
Nothing against Marky, but I don't think his timeline matches up well with the core's and and I think he and Demko are similar in ability, Demko may even be better in his prime.
Demko still needs more reps, maybe some people don't realize how crappy Marky was in Florida when he was Demko's age.
I want as strong of a team as possible during EP/Brock/Hughes' prime years |
