Don’t grab Hall. Don’t. - Wildschwein
I don't think they will, honestly. I'm interested in Toffoli to beef up the bottom six a little bit and I don't think he'd cost a ton. |

Yeah, Toffoli probably would be affordable.
Player I want is Gusev. |

Gusev for....EDM? or the Isles?
Mantha is an interesting one. Not sure where he and DET are on an extension, but I could see them moving him for the right price. He'd cost a significant amount, I'm sure. |

Hall is more of a Star Trek guy. Hates lightsaber noises. |

Both.
Dude has the skills. He just needs the structure. I think he’d be good for 25+ goals with either the Islanders or Oilers.
Mantha? Yeah, I’m thinking he’d cost Lou bigly. Wahlstrom and a high pick probably. |

Well that depends on whether I’m talking to an Islanders fan, or a Rangers fan. |

I wanted Gusev as soon as it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Vegas was going to need to move him, especially given the asking price. Not really sure what NJ would want in return though. They gave up a '20 3rd and a '21 2nd, I imagine they'd at least want something similar back. |

Gusev who is an undersized 27 years old rookie who has not exactly lit it up on a very good Vegas team. .. you would rather him b/c he was a star in the KHL instead of Hall who won the Hart trophy 2 years ago and is close to a point a game player?
help me understand this.. please. |

The knock on hall is hes older and will want 8 years. He will still be better in 8 years then ladd is now but he will demand a huge sum of money as well |

Isles are a scorer away from being legit threats in the east. Just need a finisher and hall could work but many only want him as a rental - Upstate_isles
Isles are already a Legit threat in the east.. as per your comment directly after this one. Adding a player like Hall would make us even better... but this team, with this coaching staff, and this system is already a threat to win it. |

That's my point... Hall just turned 28 last month. Gusev is 27 and will be 28 in july. |

If we can get Hall for this year's First round pick as a rental they should absolutely do it. |

They are very good and should have won a few against the canes, a scorer can really get them close to the third round |

Sure.
1. Gusev played exactly zero games for Vegas. He plays for a terrible Devils team.
Also, Vegas isn't particularly good this year, but that's irrelevant
2. In a vacuum, of course I'd prefer Hall over Gusev and it's not close. But Hall is going to cost an absolute fortune. Do you want to pay a 1st + high-end prospect, and maybe more, for him and risk losing him to UFA?
3. Assuming they signed him, not only is he going to cost a fortune to acquire, but then you have to factor in the salary cap. Are you prepared to pay 2020 1st+Dobson or Wahlstrom+another piece+ at least one of Pulock or Toews? Because you're not signing Barzal for ~$10M, Hall for ~$10M, Pulock for somewhere around $6-7M and Toews for somewhere around $3-4M. It's flat-out impossible.
4. He's 28 now, I'm a little leery about signing an injury-prone player, that will be 29 when his 8 year contract starts, to a deal that carries that kind of cap hit
5. I don't like guys with horse teeth. (frank) him, Couture, and Gary Dell'abate. |

So devils trade Larson 1 for 1 to land hall and now want a 1st a top prospect plus? I'm sure they will ask for it but I cant see paying that without a deal in place to keep him |
