If you really think they won't really need him until 5 years down the line, the Sabres have much, much bigger problems. - kingcong39
Hypothetically speaking, this team will probably play competitive hockey deep into the season but will fall just short of the playoffs. Perhaps they make it which would be great and not completely out of the question but they have work to do.
Next year this team should make the playoffs no ifs, and’s, or buts or else Botts will get the boot. Anything can happen when you make the dance I guess but I wouldn’t say we’ll be a cup favourite by any sense of the imagination.
So you’re right, maybe not 5 years, but by 3 years then I can fully justify making this type of move for a even strength goal scorer that draws penalties.
Will Skinner still be “elite” in all of these categories you guys speak of 3 years from now or will we be packaging up assets to free up cash to upgrade on him ? |

I was getting all excited about the demise of the Pats, and then reality set in.
They lost to a very good team, in a driving rainstorm, to drop their record to 10-2.
And holy poop, they almost pulled off the comeback.
Next week's NE vs. KC should be interesting . If the Chefs can pull it off, it will make the Bills vs. NE game franking crazy to watch.
10 AFC East titles in a row - that's got to end sometime, right?
Right? - Atomic Wedgie
Where was said driving rainstorm? Certainly not in Houston last night?
Also, they almost came back? The game was over when New England finally broke double digits in points. It was garbage time scoring. |

Why stop there? Bills upset Ravens. Chiefs beat Patriots. Bills beat Steelers. Now you're playing for the top seed in the conference. If you're gonna dream, dream big.
Also, what rainstorm? Houston plays in a dome. - buffalofan19
Whoops.
Got it confused with the Baltimore game.
I wish I could blame it on heavy drinking, but I was a good boy yesterday.

I really, really hate to think this way, but remember when the Fitzpatrick-led Jets came here in 2015 needing only a win to get into the playoffs and they didn't get it? That could be a revenge game. - buffalofan19
Overwhelmingly, the only thing that's the same on the Jets from 2015 is the uniform and the franchise name.
Nobody on that team now is thinking of it as revenge. |

In all fairness, they came closer to getting that onside kick than they should have. |

Thanks for all the work on this Mike.
PK and FO% is abysmal.
Rest is on par or better than years past so that’s something positive. |

I'm not convinced. Tampa had an ABSURD hit rate on draft picks and got lots of team friendly deals in a tax free state.
If he drafts like that again, then hes a wizard like we've never seen before.
There's a reason GMs generally don't have multiple successful builds. |

If Botterill can get a forward or 2, we can be good *now*
Or we can keep having a 3 year mirage ahead of us |

I mean it helps when you start off already having Larkin, Mantha, Zadina, and Veleno. We’ll see what comes of this Seider kid but I was shocked they didn’t take Cozens/Zegras.
Red Wings should finish bottom 3 giving them a chance at a top 6 pick this year so he gets to add one of Lafreniere, Byfield, Raymond, Holtz, or Lundell.
Won’t be too long until they are relevant again. |

It’s coming down to the return. I don’t think he is getting the return he is looking for with the bartering chips we have. Giving away a Risto or McCabe for another bottom 6 player won’t improve the team and I’m sure other GM’s smell the desperation mounting and are asking for the Mitts, Cozens, Reinhart and or high picks bundled with the package to get our top 6 player. He’s not going to do that so it’s gonna be a couple dumps at the deadline and focus on the draft and UFA season |

Regardless, if we manage our assets and cap properly we can have an 8 year window.
Sam is 24, Jack is 23, Mitts is 21, Joker is 20, Cozens will be turning 19 and our 2020 first rounder should be off limits.
Apart from Mojo and Skinner everyone worth a poop is still under the age of 25.

Next year should be a go for it year. They'll still have Dahlin on his ELC and Cozens will be here also on an ELC. This year is the time to make a big push to acquire some kind of big forward talent |

If he holds that ball (FFS, he had a hand on it), he probably gets it down to about the 40 or 35, giving Brady about 50 seconds to get it in the endzone for the win.
It was damn close. |

What I find hilarious is that Koo couldn’t hit a ball through the uprights to save his life but successfully competed 3 onside kicks in a row (with one being called back) for the Falcons on thanksgiving night. |

Laine 18 assists and 25 pits
Reinhart 11 assists and 20 pts
Who was it that said he was more than a goal scorer and would be nice for the 1st line? Yeah, I'd get on that wagon again because I'm not sure if our "cerebral" winger is someone to help bring us to the promised land. |

The lotto gods gifting us Lafreniere would be nice. Have Jack spend a summer in Montreal and change his name to Jacque Èichel and we can have our new French connection. |

That power forward is producing "cerebrally" more than our winger who can't play center who was supposed to be a playmaker. Not sure that wingenter is who we want to run with. |

Pretty funny that now that we found out that his shooting percentage in his first two years was in fact unsustainable, he's a power forward instead of a generational sniper |
