Not me. Perfect time to trade him and avoid said 72m which handcuffs us. We need to be cognizant of Dahlin, Cozens, Mitts, Olofsson deals in next few years.
Trade Sam plus Risto or McCabe for a top 6 with about 3-5 years on contract. Buys us time to pay the above and see where we stand. - lulags
I'd rather pay Sam 86M a day. |

Patranak makes 6,666,666. There is no way that Reinhart should make 7.5. - sabreadvocate1
Pastaboy signed in 2017, he was not Arb elligible. Not much leverage.
If you don't think Arbitration has an impact, recall back 3-1/2 months ago for Erod's case.
$2m for nothing...a 4th line C.
Sam is Arb elligible in 2020, 3 years after Pasta's signing.
That gives him real leverage.
Consider last year's RFA signings, that gives him leverage.
Nylander is a good starting point, it isn't going lower. That gives him leverage.
Sam is going to get paid
Now, let's get this out of the way before Boss misrepresents what I say, again...
I don't want to pay Sam that much, I too would want to pay him less.
But we don't live in a fantasy land, it is reality. The projection is $7.0m or more.

I'm not opposed to trading Sam, but it needs to bring in quality as well, and that will cost too.
Mitts gets a bridge deal, Cozens isn't due a contract for 3 years, Dahlin probably gets a bridge deal as well, or they could lock him in for max term cheaper than if waiting.
They could kick the can down the road if they choose.
In this scenario, if they were to sign Sam to a deal now for say 6 years, they could trade him mid-term in order to make the Cap work. |

I would not do that. They aren’t trading Sam. Sam goes through ups and downs on a yearly basis. He will be okay |

AFC north at home
2nd place Bill's
2nd place Pittsburgh or Cleveland at buffalo
Most likely the steelers
AFC south on the road
Bill's at Tennessee
Bill's at colts
Most likely at titans.
3ER suggesting the Bill's win the division? - Boss34
https://www.buffalobills....schedule/future-opponents
Regardless, assuming the Bills do not fall flat on their faces in 2019, there is a ton of national TV potential next year.
Home Steelers (assuming a healthy Roethlisberger), at Texans (if they win the division, New England home or away, home Chiefs, home Seahawks, home Rams, and at San Francisco could all be possible 4:25 double-header or Sunday, Monday or Thursday Night matchups.
They could even get a night game against the Jets if they do something intriguing in the offseason.

I know everyone hates it but, Kyle Turris would be perfect 2nd line center problem is, he is owed way to much money and years. - SABRES 89
Seeing him play in person once in awhile is pretty much the reason why I don't like this idea. |

I agree.
I'm hardly saying he's indispensable, but the constant comparisons to a guy who no scouting service had ranked ahead of him are wearing incredibly thin, and whenever he doesn't have a great game the knives come out, like the completely idiotic "He's getting completely outplayed by a rookie picked 179 picks later in the same draft." like players must have great games every game. It's asinine. That even goes for Eichel, he has 2 bad games in a row and people say how he's never taken over a game, how he's "underachieving", "soft", "immature", "spoiled", and on and on. - Wetbandit1
I hate using the "Canadian bias" argument, but if Draisaitl was born in/played for a more traditional hockey country such as Canada, the US, or even Russia or Sweden instead of Germany, he might have been ranked higher. |

The fact that you could go to the last six Predators games and not see him play also makes me dislike the idea. |

Well if you have been here before and read what I posted, it wasn't just Mitts and a pick there was more. - SABRES 89
That may be but I cant see Ray not valueing a package around a top D prospect over one with a C prospect When we have drafted pretty heavily down the middle in recent years.
Im not very up on Sabres prospects but I dont know if they have a D prospect of high enough quality to be the main piece to a Hall deal. |

I did like that he was handing out shoves most of the game we dont have anyone who goes out of their way to do that but if I was really interested in Risto I would be looking at different avenues to get him then in a Hall trade.
You guys can say what you want but players like Hall dont come up often so Ray honestly isnt his job if he isnt aiming for the top prospects out there like Bryam.
If he isnt calling sakic ever day from now till the deadline about Bryam then he isnt doing his job Others he should be focused on are Dobson or Boqvist since we have his brother but the top tier prospects should be on his radar.
Wether he gets anything like that is to be seen but his job wont be to go around and ask about other teams second best draft picks and second best prospects. |

Comparable deal would be what Karlsson or Mark Stone got last year.
A/B+ prospect
1st rounder
decent roster player
There's no way IMO you get a potential franchise D man who couldv'e went top 2 for a rental. |

It's still a little early, but this Bills team is starting to have a 2006 Sabres vibe to it, where afterwards a bunch of players play themselves into bigger contracts than they probably deserve. Shaq is at or near the top of that list. |
