He's just as streaky as anyone not named Jack Eichel on this team. - buffalofan19

You would definitely have to get creative in order to pull it off. I'm not disputing that, but the way this cap system works, you can tie up about 5 players long-term without drowning. I just don't think a core of Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin, Reinhart and the 5th (probably a defenseman, Jokiharju?) ever gets you a championship. They need to upgrade somewhere. - buffalofan19
if dahlin is half the hype, its better then ror, tarasenko, schenn, pietrangelo and perron |

if you don't have okposo on this roster, reinhart is not a factor with the cap moving forward
lots of room |

Trading good players because they're not elite is not the way to solve a talent crisis at the forward positions |

You will still have guys other middle 6 guys (Cozens, Mittelstadt) you will have to pay, either through the draft or free agency. This team is already up against the cap with an above average amount of rookie deals on it. |

If you're content with just being good, then this is the line of thinking. If you want to win a championship some day, you have to think outside the box. |

Cozens is 3 and a half years away from signing his first deal after his ELC. Mitts is... well... is he going to make the big bucks? He's going to sign probably for years $2.5 per or less |

Let's focus on being good before we we worry about being great. I fail to see how removing Reinhart accomplishes either |

I just got a notification from Bleacher Report that said "Sabres Gift Babcock Snowmobile", and immediately I thought "am I missing something? Is there some sort of secret meaning/troll job?"
Turns out it was for assistant equipment manager George Babcock for his 2,000th game. |

Since they are clinging to hope that one of Mitts or Cozens fills the 2C role, why does it have to be a young player to hold the 2C position for say 2 years?
Go get a vet with w -3 years left who plays the game the right way. - IonSabres
We did that with MoJo
Which is fine
I’m not saying we should rush Mitts or Cozens into a role they aren’t ready for
Just seems obvious to me that Botts sees one of them as the future 2C
If we can get another decent guy like MoJo,
then cool
But i don’t want us spending assets on a guy who is really a 3C,
or giving out a dumb Kevin Hayes type contract in free agency |

Wrong way to think about it IMO.
The lower pick simply afforded Buffalo to make the selection they wanted ...not having to wait for leftovers...which at say 11 or 12 could have been a RhD as the best player available then. - IonSabres
U didn’t see the context of the discussion
Of course you’d rather have the lower pick
But a team shouldn’t be “tanking” to get a top10 pick
The only acceptable “tank” in my opinion is for one of the top spots
I do believe there’s a very big difference between tanking for a guy like Mitts, Nylander or Cozens...
and doing so for a guy like Jack or McDavid |

Im not saying they will but those are the pieces Ray will be spending his time trying to get and its pretty arguable that Stone is better then Hall.
How many pts does Stone have on what you would absolutely consider a superior team? I think they are pretty even and it would depend on preference.
I also dont think Glass is miles better a prospect the Brannstrom so its not like they didnt give up a blue chip piece they just had 3 of them. ( Glass, Suzukie and Brannstrom )
Also if Sakic can find a way to extend him he would be foolish to not consider it considering how unpredictable defense man are in their development. They already have a fore sure in Makar it would allow them to take a risk that Bryam doesnt reach his potential. As it seems to me multiple defenders drafted 3rd overall or later have gone on to be meh. - Devilish4
Mark Stone, widely considered one of the best 2-way forwards produced 61 points in 59 games for a very poopty Ottawa team...kinda of like the Devils thus season.
Hall, a high-end offensive player has 21 points in 27 games, which projects to about 46 points over the same 59 games.
There is a big difference when an elite 2 way player is out producing a highly skilled offensive player. Hall is really good, but is a rental who will cost his team mega dollars if resigned...so he may be just that, a rental for a contender. |

Ya, said that in another post of mine.
I would consider it. Depending on return.
I wouldn't be ru ni g around trying to trade Sam for another 3rd pairing RhD, lol. |

I felt this needed a bump
Seems a post about trading gSam was taken out if context by a few.
Today @ 11:05 AM ET
I'd be open to trading him, for sure, depending on the return.
I'd be open to re-signing him for $7m-sh as well, assuming production stays in that 65 pt range...can always trade him down the road when that contract will have value.
If he is used for a trade, the right side becomes incredibly weak...counting on Tage (ya right), maybe Erod too (SMH).
Hall would be great, but he is LW...how many LW do they need with Olo, Skins, Mojo, Vesey, Sheary...they don't.
I'd prefer to keep him and his 65 pts and ADD to that with a real 2C. Next season, Cozens plays on the right.quote=IonSabres]

I stuck up for him.
He seems like he gets a chance to score while shorthanded every game now. That's a nice weapon to have. - Powerslave
I stuck up for him all year. He was playing good hockey, just not scoring |
