Another interesting thing to consider in the 'throw Babs under the bus' band wagon, was it not Shanahan who hired Babs? Didn't he play for him? Wouldn't he know what kind of person he really is? |

Mike Babcock is clearly a wiener, but Chelios and Franzen can both (frank) off. Chelios thought Babcock was mean years ago. He's just so upset about it. Franzen got yelled at and had his feelings hurt. Go cry you babies. So what. A million hockey players would gladly get yelled at - with or without concussion symptoms - to play for the wealth therse guys played for. Now they are just whining and piling on and its lost it's impact. Boring as (frank) listening to these babies. Babcock is an bumhole. Okay. Good to know. Anything else? - aminnes
Wow.....you are the worst kind of person |

I'm almost positive that it was Tanenbaum who courted and hired Babcock. Shanahan, regardless of whether he wanted to or not, would have have had to go along with it. That said, I would very much hope that Tanenbaum would talk to people - including his in-house personnel - before making such a decision. |

Stop passing the buck lol
"I think Mike Babcock is a phenomenal coach and we're really lucky to get him," Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, said in video posted by Sportsnet. "As everyone knows we weren't the only one bidding for his services."
Babcock joins president Brendan Shanahan as major hires by the Maple Leafs since a collapse late in the 2013-14 season caused them to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Leiweke credited Shanahan, who was hired in April 2014, with enticing Babcock to Toronto.
"I think today he is a great president," Leiweke said. "This is a vision he had early on. We're grateful to Detroit for giving us permission to talk to Mike. This is really Brendan. It was an outstanding effort on his behalf, an outstanding vision. Our president became a great president today, and I'm proud of him."

You are just assuming.
I see you are trying to find players that are bigger ass holes than Babs. Cool.
It doesn't change that we all think Babs is an ass hole and are glad he is gone |

Fair enough. I was judging from Babcock's words, where he specifically thanked and talked about the influence of Tanenbaum, but really said nothing about Shanahan or the other management influences.

I just had a really fun thought:
How long will it be until ex-coaches start telling stories about players? If you think guys have dirt on Babs, imagine what dirt he has on them? - Hockey_Reverend
If players are abusive or (frank)ing awful, then sure lets hear it.
Generally the people in positions of power have the power to abuse people and have them keep their mouth shut.
but if there are poopty abusive racist players...lets hear it |
