So if Botts gave him $18m, you would want 130 pts from Skinner, or say he is about $10m overpaid?
Production of a specific player does not increase commensurate with pay. Law of Diminishing Returns. - IonSabres
Should a doctor make as much as an Uber driver?
You get paid for your importance.
Skinner and his agent didn’t have to squeeze every penny out of Botts. He could of signed the 6x7 year deal and been a hero for taking the home town discount. Now he sits and pouts about who he is and isn’t playing with. Sounds like a winner to me.
He signed on the dotted line, that comes with the responsibility of that contract. |

I am asking a question
the jersey says reinhart on the back not reinhart#2overallfrom2014
if he was a 4th round pick, would you view him different
I mean it's not like he is bennett or dal colle
the kid is one of the ten best sabres over the last 15 years, and people are banging on him daily
again he has 120 points in the last 150 games which is better production then vanek had once he got paid - homiedclown
If he was a 4th round pick, and wasnt circumstantially tied to a guy way outproducing him, yes i would view him different
He is a solid player but is not even on pace for 60pts playing exclusively with eichel and a ultra hot rookie. It would be a regression for him at a time he should be peaking
To his credit, he seems to get it going in the second half of the season |

Were not talking about Eichel, and If we were and he was disappearing like Rhino and Skinner has over the last 10 or12 games, I would want more out of him. Rhino has like 3 point in the last 10gms or something, and that's because Jack has been on a tear - Buff36
we have 8 points in 6 games
tied for second in the division
I'm not worried about skinner or sam
neither should you |

No, they did, because they needed a body and knew exactly what they were buying into.
Did they NEEDNEEDNEED to keep him? No. No one needs to keep anyone. But they traded 4 years of a crappy guy for 1 year of a crappier guy. - TheSabresTaco
I realize in essence that’s what they did
But there were other options
For example:
Could’ve let him go & re-signed Gardiner
Would’ve made much more sense imo |

so he gets no credit for olofsson?
I mean if there was 3 passes that led to the goal, it's his fault jack passed it to olofsson instead of shooting the puck?
so if sam had 23 points instead of 20 points it's ok?

You are paying for production, he to me even if you want to say Diminishing returns is not hitting that production, no matter who he has played with, he has has plenty of scoring chances. I am not saying to get rid of him, just want more from him |

I wouldn't bring up Johansson for a cup of coffee while in a situation where every single point is could matter unless we absolutely had to. If we're out of the playoff hunt give him and UPL some starts at the end of the season. Ullmark has been quietly playing better and more consistent thus earning more starts. He'll probably get 2 starts on this trip and rightfully so. No need to tinker there unless absolutely necessary. I think the hopeful 3 year plan with Hutton and Ullmark all along was split year 1, Ullmark shows signs and gets more starts in year 2 and in year 3 Ullmark is legit number 1 and Hutton is the backup and moral support. - Bufsaints8
This all makes sense to me
And if Johansson or UPL push for playing time up here before that, then all the better |

but if he was a 4th round player you would like him - homiedclown
I think we would be pretty happy if he was a 4th round pick considering how few 4th round picks make an impact in the NHL and that the Sabres especially hit on.
A better comparison would be if he was 1st round pick taken after 15 or 20 would we be happy? I think I would be fine but a 2nd overall pick isn't a hit in the 4th round or something you hope for after development after you pick him in the 20's he is supposed to be an impact player who carries the play and might I say a franchise player or at least borderline franchise player.
If Jack went down he is not someone to lean on and that is disappointing for the top forward taken his year. ---Editorial |

Sometimes you get Eichel, sometimes you get Nolan Patrick
We got Reinhart. It's fine. He's good. |

I like the entire trio together and have argued against putting skinner with eichel, what do you want me to say?
I also think olofsson has acclimated himself to the NHL and you will continue to see more even strength scoring from him |
