Getting Marner back will be huge.

Tavares is good but don’t kid yourself... he’s not going to carry a top line on his own.

Right now because of this Matthews and Nylander are facing the best D pairings and shut down lines. Once the leafs get Marner back the opposition coaches are going to have a miserable time setting matchups against this team... and this team hasn’t really been fully healthy yet this year... once they can I’ve both those lines as dangerous ones the goals will start coming like crazy.

But without a backup they’re screwed. Imagine if Andersen gets hurt? There’s far bigger and more pressing issues than their forward group.

I don't know what defenses they are playing against, but these guys are paid like elite first line players. There is no excuse for the complete lack of effort on defense.
