We can hope Dozzer.

Matthews is playing at a 56 point pace over the past 2 weeks, and has put up 2, -3's in the past 3 games.

I don't know what defenses they are playing against, but these guys are paid like elite first line players. There is no excuse for the complete lack of effort on defense.

As far as criticizing Nylander... he is the softest player in the league, but he is at least skating.

- Aetherial

Yeah 100% agree they are underperforming but I do sincerely bring their top scorer back is going to be a huge boost to their offence.

Not just his skill but him creating headaches matchup wise for opposition coaches

But the backup goalie issue IS a big one... and it needs to be solved ASAP... this is a moment where we will see if Dubas can come through as a GM

It wasn’t that bad of a game

You are a scoreboard watcher, you get mad easily when they lose

It’s ok

- Santo_44

Uh, I didn't like the fact that they had to hang on for dear life against Colorado and were very lucky a lot against the Sabres on Saturday.

Again, you can criticize me, but it won't change the truth about this team and some of the players.

Ffs man.

They won those games.

If you want to get technical they deserved to win the game they lost against Buffalo.

You are one of those types that get really pissy when the leafs lose and they can do no right the past decade when it happens.

Just watch him play, shift after shift.

He has a great wrist shot, maybe the best ever.

Literally nothing else.

- Aetherial

His effort on the backcheck is sometimes questionable, and certainly his positioning needs more work.

He is an incredible stick handler. He is an incredible passer. He moves with and without the puck very well. His hand-eye coordination is elite. His ability to pluck a puck away from a player ahead of him is excellent. His ability to read a play and act ahead of the play is elite.

His physical play - like boxing a guy out, grind on the boards, and so on is a weak part of his game.

All of the things that Matthews does not exhibit on a routine basis are things that he can and likely will learn. Don't forget how young he is.

You add to that the best wrist shot in the game, and you have a franchise cornerstone.

Check the scoring chances. Before the empty net goal.

Yeah they sure limited those chances all game.

- Santo_44

I’m sorry your upset I get it. The leafs outplayed philly in the first i said that. After the first I thought philly had the better of the overall play.

MacKinnon wasn’t MacKinnon until his 5th season. Matthews is doomed, though.

If matthews is doomed to score 40 goals a season, ill take it.
But he has to get 50 assist as well

Why did they deserve to win the game against Buffalo ? Ullmark was almost as bad as Hutchinson that night. Eichel was a man on a mission.

If anything you deserved to lose the night after too. We hit 4 goal posts and had scored a goal that didn’t count for some reason even though the puck was clearly in the net and you can see white around the entire outside of the puck.

At least your MVP is coming back. Overreacting about the standings before January is a moot point. The Leafs will figure it out.
