first team they play that actually plays a physical game, and leafs lose 6-1.
but it's the new NHL and skill wins apparently..

Did we trade Matthews yet? Lolololol
Reality is we ran into a hot goaltender last night. Unfortunately it also seems like unless Freddy stands on his head for us every game we lose. It would also help if we could get our horrid PP going. Last night they at least had some zone time, but yet again we came up empty. Is it possible our current record is just a result of our horrible special teams?

That's not really an accurate characterization of the game, but okay. |

made no difference before
Kevin Hayes got away from Matthews and led to a goal,
but yeah, he is awesome. - Aetherial
Holl was on his back side, Matthew closes him off and Holl bails....and he walks right to the net....I thought they should have just double teamed him there...not sure that’s Matthews fault tbh JMO |

So let's just get to the numbers, shall we?
The Leafs are currently playing at a 52% success rate, on track for 85 points.
Last year, it took 98 points to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
To get to 98 points, the Leafs need to play the rest of the season at a 64% rate - that's the equivalent of playing at a 105 point clip over 82 games.
Impossible? No.
Except when you add in the fact that this team is completely heartless, and we have a backup goalie who won't win us more than 2 games all year.
This season is over, boys. Time of death: December 3rd.
Sorry |

How? Because they scored goals?
Hart made some amazing saves.
Funny how goaltending masks bad team play....Andersen does it a lot unlike tonight. - Santo_44
2/3 period
Philly 40-23 shot attempts and 20-12 in shots
Pretty sure we got outplayed |

yes, because games are won on paper...
even then - there are a few glaring holes in this roster (since last season already):
- a decent backup goalie that can win some games
- one or 2 d-man that can actually play d (ceci looks horrible in his own end - as expected; he has 0 defensive awareness). this is 5v5 and as well on the PK.
- a physical LW for Matthews line (if you play Mikheyev there, then makes sense to trade Johnsson and/or Nylander) |

Sorry - Atomic Wedgie Dom from The Athletic still has them at a 77% chance of making the playoffs. I think that they could turn it around and make a run, but that does seem pretty high to me.
