We are entering an unprecedented decade of success where we spend to the Cap. Shut your mouth.

Dom from The Athletic still has them at a 77% chance of making the playoffs. I think that they could turn it around and make a run, but that does seem pretty high to me.
- RickJames77

34.2% sounds more like it...

Are you talking about his "updated daily" playoff chances? Where despite results, he keeps giving the team he liked better when the season began with better odds of making it?

It's very Eklundesque.

Whatever.

It has the Bruins an 18% chance at the stanely cup, so I'm living in my own bubble drinking the Dom Perignon Koolaid and let me tell you my friend, it's pretty nice.

yes, because games are won on paper...

even then - there are a few glaring holes in this roster (since last season already):

- a decent backup goalie that can win some games
- one or 2 d-man that can actually play d (ceci looks horrible in his own end - as expected; he has 0 defensive awareness). this is 5v5 and as well on the PK.
- a physical LW for Matthews line (if you play Mikheyev there, then makes sense to trade Johnsson and/or Nylander)

- MaximusAurelius

The issue is there are bigger glaring holes on teams ahead of them in the standings.

Give up on the trade Nylander stuff.

He trademarked it. I don't want his Ukrainian mobsters showing up at my door a la Travis Yost.

It's a classic case of making up all sorts of numerical assumptions, putting it in the Excel blender and then pretending that what it comes up with reveals some sort of truth.

Any formula that thinks the Leafs have a 3 in 4 chance of making the playoffs this year is not worth the paper it's written on.

It cannot be based on anything factual. The only way a number like that is reached is purely biased opinion.

Yeah, they could go on a run and make the playoffs, and literally nobody would be surprised. On the other hand, the reality is that this team may very well miss the playoffs. That should not be a surprise for anyone at this point.

In the past 10 games only the Bruins and TB are over .500 in the Atlantic.

Yeah it’s an easy division.

It's weird how much more heat the Leafs get than any other team.
