The Islanders need to give Barzal, Pulock, Toews, and (if he comes over) Sorokin contracts this summer and that's already going to make things tight.
Squeezing in Taylor Hall's ~$10M contract would be like watching Lena Dunham try and fit into a normal person's jeans. - eichiefs9
Didnt you read what Ek said "they are planning to go all in this summer and make Hall their TOP priority."
The Hell with Barzal!! |

If he wants to win and play with one of the best young playmakers in the league in their beautiful new arena it’s a no brainer. And I heard his best friend is Jordan Eberle. But the Islanders never get anybody good via trades or free agency so I doubt it |

Agreed. But I think they would buyout Ladd or Boychuk. And maybe move one reasonable salary to make this happen. Your forecast is correct though. At some point they will have to manage some less than desirable contracts to get better |

If the Isles want Hall they will trade for him with a deal in place to eliminate the competition in a bidding war. If Hall isn't willing to do a sign and trade before the deadline, Hall won't be an Islander this summer.

Honestly, when haven't the islanders been in on the biggest free agent on the market. Typically doesn't end in their favor. |

If they could buy out Ladd it would be done already. It will save them next to nothing and they’re not buying out boychuck. Christ why don’t we just buy out Komarov while we’re at it. |

To NJ : Johnny Hockey + Lucic
To CAL : Taylor Hall (8 x 11m)
(1) Johnny G is from NJ
(2) Taylor Hall is from CAL
(3) Calgary gets HUGE cap relief + a superstar LW
(4) Hall vs Oilers will be intense
(5) Devils get a superstar at a GREAT contract, the best possible return |

Matthews Tavares and Marner for Price. Leafs retain 50% salary. That will solve Torontos Cap issues and fix their goaltending.

Someone needs to get bought out. Too many awful contracts on this team. Cluttersuck too |

Hall to Isles? Nonsense. We all know Isles fans would never respect a player for exercising his right to leave via free agency. Hall would become Villian #1 in LI |

Every team has a couple of contracts they don't like. the Isles are and have always been WAY under the cap limit. Every single year we have a million Isles fans complain about our contracts but it has NEVER been an issue... ever.. |

The Islanders "Huge contract issues" are nothing compared to most teams near the top of the Cap limit.
These 7 contracts are extremely team friendly.. .
Lee, Eberle, Brock, Mayfield, Greiss, Pelech, and even Bailey.
Clutterbuck and Komorav hardly an issue as yes they make slightly more than they should but by how much 1 mil or 1.5 mill each?
Ladd is a bad contract for sure.. every team has one or two. we have plenty of cap room and tons of guys coming off the cap that should provide us with plenty of space to sign kids needing contracts (Griess 3.3, Martin 2.5, Brassard 1.2 … ). They have plenty of cap room. |

With the current ownership group of the Isles, they will be in on any major UFA that makes sense. They have hired LL to manage the cap and he runs a tight ship with a quality lineup and significant cap space. In addition most likely Greiss and Martin will be gone and who knows what will happen with Ladd. It is also conceivable that Komarov is bought out. The Isles will need to get Barzal signed but he is a RFA. The question will be do you lock him up in similar fashion to Taveras with a team friendly deal maybe around 6-7M per season deal taking him through a few years of UFA (4-5 yr deal) or do you sign a bridge contract risking losing him in a couple of years. I don't see the Isles at this point giving him a deal say 8/64M or more although who knows.
Having said that, I don't see the Isles going all in on Hall. He is not Panarin nor Tavares. The Devils are not a good team but something is wrong in NJ. There is too much talent there and he is not performing. I am not a fan of giving guys that don't perform under tough circumstances big contracts. Plus until the Isles advance past round 2 they are not a destination of choice. Once they pierce that barrier and get to the ECF or better, with a new arena only a season or 2 away players will come. One positive note with Hall is that he has played with Eberle and Eberle signed long term. He would be a recruiting tool. A line with Barzal centering Hall and either Eberle, Lee or Beauvillier could be a crazy talented line. |

Agreed! Need to move Boychuk or Leddy's Contract and play Dobson and bring up Aho. Greiss' 3.3 million comes off the books and Matt Martin's 2.5 does as well. Sign Martin to 1million 2 yr deal or bye bye!

Nobody is taking Boychuk's contract without the Islanders sending something of value with it.
Lamoriello put the Leddy trade speculation to rest earlier in the season. They'd be able to ship out Mayfield rather easily to make room for Dobson if need be. I think Toews is a dark-horse candidate to be moved as well, but not thinking that one is particularly probable. |
