Exactly. That's why Ratcliffe needs some serious AHL time. Not that he's a bad player or will never amount to anything, but he was just so much stronger than the high school kids in the CHL that he was able to impose his will. That goes doubly for Strome.
- jmatchett383

Strome, i don't think minus a few small call ups (if that) will ever be an nhl player. Not a regular anyway. But agree. those who mature faster have a physical edge that separates them at younger ages.

Didn't lindros's father even say something like....when playing before the nhl he never had to worry about checks...people just bounced off him, he never had to worry about keeping his head up.

Not an overly impressive Yokes line up on paper but one hell of record. I didn’t realize Rick Tocchet was such an impressive coach.

I hope the atmosphere in the building picks up soon. This team is a playing an entertaining brand of hockey. It was dead during the Flames game.

I can't help but think Comcast has effectively priced-out a lot of the passionate fans that actually give a damn about the team, and aren't just looking for something to do or something to put on social media.

What's more, even the "cheap" standing room tickets are mostly bought up and left to expire on a reseller for a 3x mark-up.

They thought they were gonna make more money and shot themselves in the foot. Great example of keeping your fans happy was I believe the Atlanta Falcons? lowered concessions drastically and ended up making more money than ever before.

I’d play Vorobyev. No need to double shift Coots who may not be fully healed yet.

Well when Greg Carey and Cal O'Reilly are your top 2 scorers and JF Berube is your 1B starter, these things happen.

well to be fair Frost and Farabee were called up and they have had issues with injuries.

Tickets to the Assembly Room will start at $25, the Flyers most affordable price point and the lowest available in the NHL.
“We’ve all seen the data suggesting that many fans, especially younger fans, are being priced out of the live sporting event experience,” Camillo said. “So the first thing we wanted to do was create a ticket that was affordable.”

Named after the Assembly Room inside Independence Hall, the space will feature historic Philadelphia-themed drink specials including "The Sexy Franklin" and the "Smoke Signal Old Fashion," as well as local bites like Old Philly Loop Pretzels, Tavern Cheesy Tots and Berry Chocolate Mini Trifles.

Nothing the younger fans want more than a sexy Franklin.

That's my point. As currently constructed with injuries and call-ups, they're not exactly the 04/05 Phantoms. Hell, they're not exactly the 17/18 Phantoms.

I was going to be snarky and suggest that they send Frost, Farabee and Myers back to LHV, but you made the point in a much nicer way.

Oh, I'm well aware of the reasons WHY Carey and O'Reilly are leading the team in scoring. But that's just the reality.

Usually the guys outside of the top-tier who get slapped with the 'NHL-Ready' tag are physically mature, move decently, 'advanced' defensively, and everybody got to see them at international tournys. Like Luke Schenn, Crouse, Puljujarvi, Alzner, etc.

They get massively overrated.

I don't have a problem with big projects like Ratcliffe and Strome. Even Morin, since he always showed that he really wanted it.

But mostly, I think the best value picks tend to be the imperfect/late-blooming kids who had to go through a lot of adversity just to get to the draft, and developed a chip/killer instinct/hunger at a young age. Like Clarke, Richards, Giroux, etc.

Downie might have been the opposite extreme tho, a bit too angry/damaged.

Tricky game tonight. Yotes are a sneaky good team who the Flyers have had trouble with in years past. Building will prob be dead too. Hopefully they can play a solid 60 minutes and get two points.
- PLindbergh31

Yup, agreed.
Arizona is a good young team so this should be a fun game.
I'm not going to lose my mind either way if they win or lose as it is a long season.

I agree that many actual fans are priced out but I think the main reason the atmosphere is dead is because of the PR team. Somehow, they've made the experience of going to a Flyers game unenjoyable. If I go to a game, I'm there for the on-ice product, not to watch some attractive lady and Louie Nolan talk non-stop during stoppages, while simultaneously being force-fed Gritty. It's become a circus-like atmosphere.

And I'm pretty sure I dislike Gritty more than anyone, except Peter Forsberg.

I agree, please FFS stop trying to sell me something at every stoppage. I get it, you're a business, but please stop blaring commercials nonstop.

And that Gritty/Forsberg thing was so uncomfortable.
