Just couldn’t score tonight. The young kids, Farabee and frost, had some opportunities. It’d be nice if they could start scoring. |

Jake just made some comments to the media about the Power Play I completely agree with.
“The Power Play has been the same for 9 years, so things came automatic and now we’re switching it up”.
The team is doing what they need to do 5 on 5 I felt, they just couldn’t buy a goal. The strength of the Yokes right now is their goaltending. So if we get a PP opportunity, we have to make it count and this includes the coaching staff. Whether it’s drawing up a play or positioning the players properly or getting the right guys on the ice.
Giroux has scored or has been dangerous every time he’s on the left half wall on the PP. tonight the coaching staff puts G on the right again, G becomes irrelevant. Morgan Frost plays that left side, he’s coughing up pucks and not looking sharp. I’m not even sure if Frost deserves or has earned the right to be out there ahead of Hayes or Farabee for example. |

Yeah it’s becoming an issue. I see both sides. I don’t want the flyers power play to be the same it’s been for the last 9 years. I want different looks. I think one of the looks is their bread and butter giroux on the left half wall. I do think they need to mix up their looks. If giroux had a shot like ovechkin then there would be no reason to change it. I want movement when it’s all said and done
Frost has hit a wall. He’s a young man that will need to figure it out |

PP issues aside, I really don’t see a point to dissecting the rest of this game unless it’s for facing this same team again. Sometimes you lose.

I would much rather they make that new look on the other unit. Have a 2 unit competition. Whichever unit scores (or most chances) starts the next PP.

It doesn’t matter if Claude Giroux has a shot like Alexander Ovechkin, what’s the disadvantage is of having Giroux on the right is, he has no shot at all. |

ug losing to arizona this is just as bad as losing to the flames - 2Real
How do you figure? Arizone is 2nd in their division last I checked. They played more disciplined and converted their PP chances. That was the difference. |

Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Hayes-Voracek
JvR-Frost-Farabee
Laughton-Vorobyev-Pitlick
Frost and Niskanen come off the PP. Hayes and Myers come on the PP.
There, I said it... - SuperSchennBros
No way. You have to keep Coots with Voracek. Better off moving Hayes up with Giroux |

They will. Dallas's D wont miss the tackles theyve been missing tonight against them
Also, the key the last two weeks was Allen and Trubisky using their legs as a weapon.....dont see Doug a d Wentz doing this |

So you have no interest in putting Couturier and Konecny back together, which have has the best chemistry for years and reforming the most productive line we’ve had of Giroux, Couturier and Konecny? |

While we debate the PP units it's very simple what AV is doing and has done. On Gs unit it is whoever his line is with Provy and either JVR or Hayes as net front. With PP2 it's whomever is in Coots line with Nisky and usually Ghost or Sanhiem.
What he doesn't do is change the basic line combo.
Coots and Oskar have been together ALL season they have been with TK, Jake and Farabee mostly. That has been his PP line.
There has been a lot more movement on Gs line. He has had all of Hayes, JVR, TK, Farabee and now Frost. All have played PP with G when on his line.
I also have seen posts about Gs unit getting 90 seconds of pp time to Coots unit. Not really so. If they are set up in the zone they stay. Otherwise they switch up around the minute mark.
I don't see AV switching up the pp lines. Looks like he thinks the chemistry with the lines stays together on the pp.
That does mean he is using all of the top 6 guys on the pp plus Provy,Ghost, Jvr and Nisky. |

This spot on, and I think there was a few other guys who took a turn on the Giroux unit like Voracek and Raffl. I seriously doubt that he plans to revamp the main concept too. But all the changing personal does have an effect. I think the biggest complaints have been the actual positioning and movement on the unit. Especially the placement or not of Giroux on the left side. I think those criticisms are valid.

I have also noted that last night Gs group was out drew a penalty and Coots group started the pp. Later Jake drew a penalty and Gs group started the pp. Guess whoever is fresher starts. |

Yeah, that’s true although I kind of like the idea of whoever is “hotter” starting unless they are really winded. The other thought that I have is that they could put Niskanen/Myers on the Giroux unit making that be the one with 2 d and the Coots unit have 1 d. It’s still in keeping with the main PP plan, but could help with the position and movement on both units.
