Was in TPC's hipster neighborhood tonight so I missed what sounds like a stinker of a win.

lol I've learned over the years that there is no such thing as a stinker of a win, I'll just take it.

Yeah, in all likelihood he has to. I just want to hold on to him as long as possible. We can both agree we want to see Shesty in action, but as I've said before you never know who the guy is until he has the job. Don't forget, the team wanted to try Blackburn wearing two gloves before settling on Hank who was probably at one time the 3rd/4th option.

If Georgie played at this level full time, I would be on board with him just getting the job.

I don't see any other way

Georgiev probably gets a new deal this summer for 3 mil a year as an RFA

Rangers don't have the luxury of enough cap space to pay Lundqvist 8.5 mil (cap hit) in his final year and Georgiev 3 million

they absolutely have to have Shesty next year at 925K

the best scenario is a pipe dream and that's a Georgie/Shesty combo

but that would entail Lundqvist announcing this is his last year and he's retiring at end of this season

his actual salary goes down to 5.5 mil in his final year, he could make that up easily just moving into being an ambassador for the team

but, there is nothing about Lundqvist's demeanor that indicates he wants to hang it up, he looks as competitive as ever

I think if he totally sucked this year, he would have hanged it up since he is that competitive. The fact that he's looked really good so far this year means I'm sure he wants to come back next year. I actually could see him wanting to play after next year too if he keeps this us, it's whether he'd be willing to play for another team.

yeah, definitely agree, and that's why no matter how you look at it, the only thing that makes sense is to circle back to trading Georgiev and hopefully he brings back a good return

the Leafs are such a no brainer

I know when we make fantasy trades like we did the other day, most of the time we know it has no chance of happening. The Leafs can't even field a complete team at the moment because of cap. Taking Willy off their hands makes way too much sense and helps both teams out immensely.

Georgiev might have to go by the deadline. If Shesty continues to play well in Hartford, there is no way he will stay there for the season, he has the same opt out clause as VK.

I honestly don't see how they keep Georgiev up here with him fast approaching that game cap.

They keep him up and find a reasonable trade. Then his passing through waivers is not our problem.

That whole trade is looking every bit as disastrous for both sides as the Leetch trade was, discuss.

That makes it somewhat more palatable, but I still get angry when I see Eric Staal's face. Man, I was excited for him to come to NY!!!

Carolina and Chicago both already gave up on Saarela, he can't be too good

Me too, though he was damaged goods, was miscast in the lineup, and we probably shouldn't hold that against him nearly as much as we do now.

I think Eric Staal and Shattenkirk have a little in common in that their egos were bruised at the end of their run with the Rangers and it worked as a catalyst for both of them to get their games going again. Obviously both guys have a lot of pride.

I think they have both in common in that both were playing hurt here. The Staal thing is totally on our front office and the medical staff. It should be no surprise he rebounded once he was healthy.

Shatty was hurt while he was here, but I think his rebound can be contributed more with a better supporting cast around him. Alot of his points are coming off assists, which shouldn't be shocking considering the talent there. He only has 5 goals and only 1 has come in the past month. Adam Fox only has 6 less points, the same amount of goals and has done this with crap partners, and while earning ice time in his rookie season. ADA has ONE less point and twice as many goals. I just think Shatty's comeback is slightly overblown

Offer Staal Ruffs job. Offer Hank an assistant to Allaire. Simple
