none of the 4
The targets imo to get cap space are Ceci (obv) and Kap or Jonsson
there is 7.5 mil to make something happen with.
Kap is frustrating for me to watch, if he wasnt so good on the PK he would be the obvious choice for me.
With Engvall and Moore you can give up a little offence for something else - senstroll
Seems rather subpar to me. Career AHL fringe NHL 4th liner... |

The Kessel trade was good for us. I don’t know if anyone was expected Kap to have the career he has. He is a GUD pro. - Hockey_Reverend
People were fairly high on him as he has a decent shot and is fast. He was a first rounder for a reason.
The Kessel trade was decent. It netted us Anderson, and Kap and whoever the 3rd was as well as a 2nd for spaling(w/ Polak) |

So, which one of the big 4 do we need to jettison to build this team properly?
I would actually get rid of Tavares just because of his age, but clearly we cant do this because he is the anointed captain now... and had leafs PJ’s...
SO it comes down to the fabulous 3, Matthews, Marner and Nylander. You have to keep Matthews because he is a big centre imo...
Marner or Free Willie?
Willie is soft, but jettisoning Marner would get you a bigger return and free up lots of cap...?

Is it ridiculous to suggest trading Barrie before the deadline? Could we squeeze a 1st rounder out of him? Should we trade Muzzin also? Doubt he is begin resigned... |

The problem is you have to replace Ceci. Barrie will be gone, and Muzzin will likely be gone or you have to pay him MORE money... Who will play d? - Hockey_Reverend
the thing is, i dont see the D as a problem, its a great time to overhaul things if its not working out.
Rielly and Dermot are back
I think Muzzin and Holl are re-signed
sort out the rest with Sandin, Lily and UFA/Trades

that was kind of my point.....Georgiev (no idea how to spell his name) is a "backup" technically, but he's young and will almost surely be a good starter in this league soon........hell, if Lundqvist wasn't such a legend in New York, Georgiev is possibly the starter right now.
if you're acquiring an actual backup.....absolutely the price will be low
if you're acquiring a "backup" who is well on his way to becoming a starter, it will cost a team a solid package to acquire that player - haywoodjablome
Specially the leafs, cause everything seems cost more for them |

But can we resign him? What will he demand? 5.5 million? Can we afford that? |

greedy willi could probably get us a decent top 4 dman, who is defense first, and maybe + before he is exposed league-wide as the soft as slime, pencil neck, pretty boy perimeter player that we all know that he is🤦♂️ |

I think his evaluation on Gorgiev is preemptive. Anderson was a essentially a starter in a platoon situation(played 54/43 games before coming to TO), Gorgiev is actually a backup right now. |

Georgiev has started 12 games, lundqvist has started 17.......seems pretty "platoony" to me |

Mine was like the Bruins at the 2015 draft, three in quick succession but only one of them felt good. |
