I think it’s a weird deal on Chayka’s part. I don’t see them as being a Taylor Hall away from being a true contender. I know they’ve been in the mix from the get go but think it’s a waste unless they really think/know they can lock him up to a contract. - Cptmjl
Very strange seeing the Yotes get Hall. Well Lou can move onto other players now. Devils and Isles making a deal for Hall was very slim.
Sounds like NJ is eating half the Cap Hit as well. - nyisles7
Yotes gave up a lot for a most likely rental imo. Least the Devils could do was absorb some cap hit😂
Chayka will wind up regretting this. None of the prospects are blue chip from what I see besides MAYBE Bahl but it’s just a weird move on the coyotes part. They’re far from winning the cup. They may not even win a round 😂

Devils have to be shocked how this season went. They had to be hoping for the combo of Hughes and Hall for years.

Well if he doesn't sign they may not want to win a round because then they will lose another 1st round pick and Hall
The more I read about what the Yotes gave up its really not much. - Cptmjl
This trade appears to be very Garth Snow. Giving up a first rounder, a conditional pick and a few prospects for the CHANCE to sign Hall. Hall is most likely going to listen to offers, so im not sure why Arizona would make this deal. Then again, after giving up a first rounder for the chance to sign Vanek, and then not signing him, Garth said he'd do it all over again.

Agreed. Like I said Hall to me at least doesn’t make them contenders. It’s hockey so you never know but from here I don’t see it. Who knows maybe the trade gets Kessel to start playing like he can and they turn it up a notch but from the Devils point of view it doesn’t look like a good trade. That first is most likely a 20 or worse and if they don’t make the 2nd round they got some for the most part two long shot prospects and one ok kid.
