Not sure where we’re at as far as least power plays in the league now but after watching a game like this along with the last couple it’s hard not to believe that there’s not something to it. |

Johnston was +1 for the game, so he must have been on the first line when the Isles scored their lone goal. |

He was. I wrote that like a jackass what I meant to say was “we score a goal and then Johnston is mysteriously not on that line after.” Michters is a helluva drug😂 |

When he took him off the first line after we scored it said to me at least ok we need to score now two times so let’s put our scorers out😂. Not sure why that wasn’t the thought process down by three goals with ten mins left? With that said I thought they played a pretty good game overall especially in the first period just didn’t get any breaks and bishop was real good. I also think it’s time to really consider trying to acquire some scoring. I believe we all knew we’d hit a wall eventually with putting the puck in the net inevitably. We need some depth in the top 6 I’m hoping Lameriello is looking for some help outside the organization. |

Of course, why the (frank) not.
Agree, I don’t think the Isles played a bad game. They stopped playing their game for 10 minutes or so and it cost them. I thought The Stars did get some fortunate bounces and none went The Isles way. As I posted, one of those games.
As you said, I thought Bishop was real good as well |

Someone (Shannon?) asked about Johnston being on the first line, I think maybe before the game began. Trotz said that he wanted to roll 4 lines and spread out the scoring threats among all the lines. But you raise a good point. Down 3 with 10 minutes left, maybe you load up the scoring talent on 3 of the lines, and just roll those 3 lines. It's a tough call, because the Isles had played hard for most of the game and continuing with 4 lines helps guys to play hard on every remaining shift. Plus, Johnston is a big body and he has no problem parking his big self in front of the crease. For whatever reason, Lee has not been effective in that role of late.
Lou Lam is probably looking for a Center. Chicago is on track for an 82-point season and missing the playoffs. Might they be looking toward a rebuild? Jonathan Toews gets $10.5 million per season for 3 1/2 more seasons and is off to a terrible start this season. Would you take a chance on him, assuming that he is even available? Isles would need to dump salary to even fit him under the cap. Toews is 31. |

Agreed on the first part. Second part signed for three more years at that number makes for a very expensive 2nd line center... He’s obviously got some great experience and a two way game. Maybe he could find his game again he’s not having the best season so far but ultimately I would pass if I were Lameriello but in all honesty it’s interesting. If the Blackhawks could retain some salary it becomes more interesting but I don’t see them retaining enough to make it close to a viable option for us if it were one to begin with. |

How about Andrew Ladd and a draft pick or picks for Toews? It would be worth it just to hear Butch get confused having two guys name Toews on the Islanders. But seriously, there's definitely risk in that deal. If Toews never finds his game again, that's an awful lot of money tied up for the next 3 1/2 seasons. |

Were not in the market for that kind of player with that salary attached with the upcoming contracts we have to get done. That’s why to me Hall is an attractive option as a rental for this season but a decent 2nd line center would make the most sense. Toews doesn’t fit the bill because of salary. |

That's why I suggested trading Ladd. It's a net gain of only $5 million against the cap that way.
But yeah, I do realize that it makes it harder to sign everyone in the next few years. On the other hand, if Toews gets back his game, it makes the Isles immediate contenders, I would think. |
