our gm stated he wants an upbeat north south team
pilut fits that mold better then scandella, miller, mccabe and bogo
so either he lied then or he has not clue what team he wants
when a team is strapped against the cap and says they want an upbeat team
I would rather have the cheap guy with 39 points in 48 games in the ahl then the 15 mil we are paying those 4 guys - homiedclown

There is no logical reason why Pilut is in Rochester right now. |

He just isnโt ready to unveil his vision yet. You have to wait for expiring contracts and more cap space.... |

You arenโt wrong .... i think coaches do it to protect themselves from the media or other potential jobs in the feature. Like what gm or media member will say they are wrong fir doing that |

The Buffalo News recounted a story today about how he tried to adopt an up-tempo team in the Olympics and got burned:
"We tried to go a little bit more offensive and we weren't ready for it," Krueger said. "We were very disappointed. ... There were some discipline problems off-ice, and I have to say it was just amazing how that unbelievable pain and adversity of 2002 launched us towards 2006 and 2010, where we were really competitive right until the end of both tournaments."
Krueger learned from his mistake the previous Winter Olympics. He knew an emphasis on defense was the Swiss' only chance at upsetting the Canadians, so much so that he sent his penalty-killing unit on the ice for a power play because he wanted to avoid a shorthanded goal.
Unlike the opposition, the Swiss roster was not built as an All-Star team. Krueger and his staff picked players to fill specific roles, much like an NHL general manager constructs a roster. He's implemented a similar structure in Buffalo, emphasizing the importance of checking-line players such as Johan Larsson, Zemgus Girgensons and Vladimir Sobotka .
He's risk adverse like 90% of NHL coaches. Play the "defensive" guys and you wont get blown out |

I think in this particular case it is.
We have 5 years of bad/injured/ipod shuffling play from DJ Trainers table
We have 33 games of promising play from a guy doing very well in Rochester - sbroads24
๐
โ๏ธ we are talking about 2 different leagues.
What's not to like about the way the Sabres handled oloffson and asplund?
Hoping for the same with pilut next year or after the tdl |

Don't you think, there's a learning curve both on and off the ice? You need some of these vets. Especially good guys. It's all about the future here in buffalo.

Eh. That sounds more to me like he knew he didn't have the horses to play up-tempo with the Swiss so he didn't pretend to play like he did. |

Same situation here, really. Hes not going to try to rock the boat by playing Pilut when he can play "defense" with Bogo |

Ill never call someone a liar but from experience I was listed in my college baseball program almost 4 inches taller and 40 lbs more than I was playing at. |

Or why montour and Joker played less than Bogo against Vancouver
It's important to play "defense" |

Yeah, I mean I agree with you, but it's on the GM to force the coach to play good players, by only having good players.
Bogo shouldn't still be a Sabre.
I was shocked he, Sobotka, were still here to start the year.

Interesting that the very next day vs EDM Montour played considerably more and Joke played about the same.
Oh wait I forgot facts have no place here.... someone make me a chart |

Look, it's Bogo's, Sobotka's, Hunwick's, Sheary's and Scandella's poopty contracts going up in flames on July 1st. - TheSabresTaco
I have been watching this intently for 2 hours now...no progress of said burning is actually happening...I therefore am left to believe that Botts will re-sign them all. |

I went back to when Bogo came back. Hes played more than Joker 6 out of 8 games. I would argue that should happen 0 out of 8 games |

Depends it appears Bogo plays considerable more PK time in general which may be skewing the numbers
2 out of the last 3 he played less
In NJ its even if you take away teams
Tor games similar take away teams they are about even
Ive gone back to the Flames home game and only 2 Joker had more and it was part of btb games
So without a chart being made Id say Ralph Dracula plays his d pairs 5v5 evenly |
