Now doubters will be quick to point out that Asplund and Olofsson were Murray picks, but I love that you bring up the point about how Botts’ patience has paid off for the development of those respective players.
If I had a dollar for every time people on here were losing their minds for him to call up Olofsson last year I’d be rich. There is no such thing has overcooking a prospect (however I don’t know how much more cooking a 24 year old Larry Pilut needs).
His management of Mitts though has ruined his confidence. I think he’ll be fine but I’m getting more worried by the day. - Pegullaville
You love giving Botterill credit for the previous GM's picks. Shocking |

JB might make a move. Not sure what that’d be though. To be sure, if he does make a move and it’s not a good one, the story will be, “Terry/Kim made Botts make that trade.”
If the trade works well, there will be no mention of ownership. - PrinceChill

I'll be teetering on the "fire Botterill" side if his big move is Galchenyuk.

start with hutton
they have cap space to bring up a rochester goalie and carry 3
let johansson or the hamburgler get a few starts to relief ullmark and let hutton get his sh!t together in practice

he has to finish his regular season and playoffs before they can call him up now
if they go deep, we might be eliminated by then

Good post
I'm giving gmtm credit for both oloffson and asplund. Borgen too
Smart by jbotts to understand his depth and no how to be patient and season them.
I think we're fine at winger. Tage maybe pans out? Mitts to the wing? Johansson to the wing with a new 2C?

I think it's part of Krueger's coaching technique
When Johansson had an awful game, he played him a ton the next game
Bogo was awful against Calgary, so he played him a ton the next game.
He tries to let guys play through it.
He did the same with McCabe earlier in the year until he made it painfully obvious he wasn't going to play himself out of it - sbroads24
He's done it with the goalies too.
We have to remember he's still in the evaluation phase. I'd have to imagine leashes get shorter as the season wears on.

What if it’s not the “big move” but just a move to balance the forwards and backend a little. A bogo for gally as an example. Both are on expiring contracts.... maybe Ralph can whisper sweet nothings to gally and get him to play center a half step better than mojo and we can get mojo on the wing.
Gally gets an opportunity to prove he is a center in a contract year... |

Hutton is going to end up on the "IR" if he keeps playing this way.
How about ryan miller?
Old, but nostalgia and better than hutton? |

I mean, they did make him make the ROR trade. It's about as factual as it can get without someone directly saying it.
Do you really buy that Botterill made the move 3 hours before Pegula had to pay his bonus without 0 influence on the matter? |

Is it fair to give him credit for not coming in and trading all of them?
How nice would it be if he moved Olofsson two years ago in a deal for some random 3rd liner we now want to trade? |

I completely agree.
I got criticized for saying josh throws a nice deep ball.
It's the lack of accuracy for sure. I think part of it, is making sure it's not picked off.
22 games into his career, hopefully he can work on it.

Thanks for the response though.
I credit Botts with the development of the prospects and surrounding them with a strong team down in Rochester |

Like maybe two second round picks and an nhl ready d man for a “top prospect” that still can’t crack an nhl lineup.... that kind of move. Lol |

That's my point, even Scandella, then you bring up Pilut, and maybe he brings some offense to the backend. |

Drysatlyl would still be here and nylander wouldn't/shouldn't have been picked .
Olofsson might be the best Sabres pick since mogilny?

I'll be very down on Botts if he makes this trade.
It's a move that changes almost nothing.
Galchenyuk is another guy who isn't a full time center, can't make up for his bad defense with enough offense.
It would be a trade to appease the fan base, not improve the team - sbroads24
Would it even do that? Because he was a high pick 7 years ago? What else? |
