Maybe he should’ve stayed in college another year. He’s been pretty bad with very little sign he’ll turn it around.
Ralphie will give him every chance to get better though, and it’s difficult to picture JB sending him down. - PrinceChill
they drafted casey to be a top 6 fixture on this roster
aside from a few games at the end of last year, they never gave him top 6 minutes with top 6 wingers
when they did last year, he was fine
kid played over 100 games in the nhl , now play him in the role he was drafted to play, not a 3rd liner |

Casey's played all over the lineup and has little to show for it. No need to make excuses. If the kid needs the AHL, so be it. Who cares. He's clearly a very talented player that's still having difficulty with the NHL competition. The only reason he's here is because the center position is sorely lacking. |

It's not unfair to expect more from the whole team.
Casey is not exempt from higher expectations. |

I don't have an issue with sending him down to Rochester, especially if they're not going to play him here. However, this isn't "ruining" him. If Mittelstadt ultimately fails, it's because he never had it in the first place, not because he didn't start in Rochester. Some players take longer to figure it out than others, but ultimately, either a player has it or he doesn't no matter how much or little time he spends in the minors. - buffalofan19
Let's not forget that the kid is working on his defensive game. Now I know people will say, he wasn't drafted 8th overall to be a defensive forward, but it's not as if he's been a liability in that regard, either. I'm not opposed to sending him to the A, but until he "gets it" offensively, he IS doing things to hopefully make himself a more complete player down the road.
Keep him up, send him down, trade him. I'm good with any of this. |

he is on pace for 25 points, 20 even strength points this season playing less then 13 minutes a night
last season bozak had 30 even strength points as the third line center for the blues playing 3 and a half more minutes per night
again he was drafted to be a top 6 player, put him in that position for a few games |

He's been in that position. Several times.
Casey doesn't suck, he's not producing because he's not ready to be a consistent offense factor in this league yet, and there's really nothing wrong with that. Put him somewhere to succeed. Botterill is stubborn as (frank). |

He's been.. been pretty bad at that. He's too talented to give up on, and I don't understand why this team won't let him crush the AHL. |

he's not producing because most third liner don't produce, and that is his role, on a good night and usually 4th line minutes when the LOG line is in tact |

or give him 17 minutes a night as the second line center and first team pp duties
since our pp is oh so well lately

So you put him in the top 6 (again) and all the sudden he becomes a completely different player than he's shown? Jeff Skinner produces everywhere. So does Jack, so does Sam, and so did Victor. Because they are all fully prepared to be here. Casey has shown for a season and a half he is not yet ready to be fully effective at his role. But there's really no reason to make excuses for him. He's played everywhere for all sorts of minutes and produced very little. He's not scoring, he's not shooting, he's not possessing. The LOGs don't seem to have a problem and they're on the 4th line. |

Vesey, Johansson and Sheary are his most common linemates. Skinner has Johansson, Sobotka and Sheary.
Skinner doesn't have an issue scoring. Casey is not a Girgensons or Sobotka. He doesn't or shouldn't need to lean on talented players to put up points. He should be helping players put up points. I'd like to see him with Reinhart for a set of games, but we won't.
Again, I still believe in his abilities and have seen him dominate his peers. But it's become clear that the NHL are not his peers, yet |

Yes, this discussion of Mitts is at least on point. He is underperforming against expectations. His underperformance signals his game isn't NHL ready. His ineffectiveness IMO has caused a severe lack of confidence, thereby further reducing his effectiveness.
He absolutely needs to go down to work on his game before he becomes a washout.
Stop being too proud Botts, send that boy down akin to throwing him a career lifesaver.
Ragging on Skinner and Sam was just dumb. Streaks happen, it is unfortunate when 2 of your top 4 scorers go on the same unproductive streak at the same time.

Do something productive Botts!
Throw your team a lifeline while they are still trying to swim, let's not wait until the bubbles have cleared after the third gasp.
If Rutherford is so low on Gally, then his asking price should reflect that. His team needs a LhD, you have plenty. Is he looking for additional help, throw him 1 of Sheary, Vesey or ERod.
JC, no it isn't the big move, it is a middle 6 move, with no strings attached, low risk, low cost.
Do it!
Like 40 points is bad, SMH. |

He isn't showing any kind of competence when he has had opportunities.
I'd be fine with taking 5 games to test him out with Jack...Lw or RW or both I don't care.
Put up at a rate of 0.65 ppg or go to Roch.
Hell, give him 10 games as a trial run. |

Went to the Bolts-Isles game last night.
Holy crap, Bolts reminding me of the Sabres...could finish to save their lives.
Bolts go down on a 2-1, goalie makes a brilliant save, Isles D headman's the puck...boom in the net for a goal against.
2 minutes later, nearly the same play, had the same finish.

Maybe a gentleman's agreement? Or just a flat out agreement.
Casey, leave college and you will play for the Sabres.
Not the ahl.
