Somebody earlier speculated on gambling..

Well, fricking Tocchet is back coaching after running a numbers ring while being a coach. Think hard on that folks, he was let back in the league to coach after running an illegal gambling numbers ring while being a fricking NHL head coach.
If thats not a lifetime suspension ........

So if gambling was involved, I guess the only way you get your job back was if you played on a Lemieux Cup team or with Gretzky. Montgomery has no shot of redemption, he is not connected enough

Its who you know/knew or play/played with in the old boys network, not how bad the infraction is.

I dont care what the spas commissioner says, there are different sets or rules for different people. You see it on the ice, you see it in the suspensions and now you will see it again in some fashion.

Jim Nil firing a coach, yet he is allowing Corey Perry to still be on the team. Does he really care about unprofessional conduct? These GM's now have no spines.

Hockey's Me Too movement

Victimhood culture has been glamorized and made into a points system, get rich quick scheme

- Komisaurus Rex

That's an ignorant generalization, it also has little to do with what's happening here from what we know so far.

When is the league going to fire this guy for his inappropriate sexual advances on children?

I can't help but feel this is the #Meetoo movement of the NHL. And I'm starting to wonder if this whole thing is gonna get way out of control. Many coaches are bum holes. Deal with it.

I'm not saying people in positions of power should be allowed to get away with abuse, but I don't want to hear any of this, "Oh, he hurt my feelings." nonsense.

this may have occurred while he was in denver.

When you have universities involved, the dallas stars are trying to get out in front of it.

He was probably sleeping with students.

Yeah it's been pretty much the coaches' own conduct that has caused consequences.

Also, the Me Too movement was women coming forward to say they had been sexually assaulted or harrassed. If there was a lot of voices in that movement, that's actually the men that assaulted them that are out of control.

Seems like Tocchet was already reprimanded and went through his punishment so I dont think he has a different set of rules. People make mistakes and can change, doesn't mean they need to be banned for life because of them, depending on what they did of course.

Why would that get him fired?

Assuming he's married, while that's a real crappy thing to do to your wife/family...I'm not really sure he's a fire-able offense. Especially if it wasn't made public.

Nearly every city with a hockey team probably has at least one local college, not really sure why Denver is ground zero here.

Obviously there's no proof Montgomery was gambling, but for argument's sake....

What Tocchet did has no place in professional sports either, I want to be clear on that. But if he wasn't actively gambling on games then it's an entirely different ball of wax. If Montgomery was gambling, especially on his own team's games, that's some Pete-Rose-level stuff and I think you probably know how that went for Rose.

I guess it's kind of pointless to debate since we really have no idea what happened. But I think that there's a big difference between taking bets from other people and, hypothetically, literally gambling on a game that you have the ability to influence. Neither are acceptable in professional sports, but I think the latter is much worse offense as far as professional sports go.

Caught gambling. Unfortunately he was betting against the team he was coaching. Either a win lose or a lose win situation

There's really not much benefit to coming forward about such allegations. Do you really think most of these women are lying? And for what? You think they're making money from this or getting famous?

The best part of this for me, or the most entertaining part, is that what's left of the journalistic community DOESN'T KNOW.

Oh no!...how has it not been tweeted/leaked by the masses yet?
Some actual journalistic investigating may need to occur.

I would assume Its sexual harassment. He is in a position of power and the person being a student can be manipulated. It wouldnt have anything to do with him being married or not.

Things might've got a little out of hand at the team's Christmas party? Someone's wife perhaps has a Dr Evil fetish? The "for the sake of the privacy of those involved..." makes it sound like a soap opera/"reality" show drama situation. Seems more like something recently happened, rather than a skeleton falling out of his closet.
There won't be any more of a reason given by the Stars organization beyond what's been stated. Let the speculation continue...
