Generally true, but it's really not the rule. It's based on the age when you signed your contract and then years or NHL games played. In the case of Mitts or Dahlin, they'll lose their exemption after 160 games. Dahlin should still be on his ELC. Mitts may not , but mostly because we burned that 1st year.

Both franchises are more than ready to part with both players. They're having terrible years by their standards are clearly in need of a change of scenery. I love Kreider's style, but who can be sure the change would get him back to 50 some odd points? I truly wonder if coaches and GMs can scout a guy in the NHL and say, yeah, after watching this guy extensively, it's clear he would flourish in our system over theirs, playing with these types of players we employ.

If they continue their seasons as they've started them, they'll just be the high priced middle 6 bums we already have.

This is a thing with European free agents. I've never seen a case with it with North Americans or draft picks.

We thought the same with Tage and they finally demoted him because they couldn't (frank)ing decide which league he belonged in. I imagine they're in a similar place with CM. They want him working with the coaches here, but at the same time I can't comprehend how not playing him helps his development.
