I don't see a Bogo for Galchenyuk type of move. They don't need a RD, maybe a LD depending on how long Dumoulin will be out. - mhp

It's not a binary that when a player asks for a trade it's bad or a GM makes a move it's good because one benefits the team, it's an unfair portrayal of what we're saying.
I have no problem with players asking for trades in general, I'm a business guy. If I have a better offer, I'm giving my employer fair notice I'm leaving no matter what I'm working on. Players have a right to look after themselves the same way I do. I applaud that.
To say someone who has played a TERRIBLE stretch of games after the organization supported him through ALL his injuries is asking for a trade....that's different.
It's a jerk move. If he was playing great and was getting scratched in favor of a young guy, I'm with you. I'm not in your plans, that's OK, I'll play and be a part of the team until you find a trade, but please start looking. I'm good with that. That didn't happen here, it was reported the team handled a charity event for him because he was a no show. If that's true, bye.
For crying out loud, Eichel considers Bogo his best friend and he was SHOCKED when he heard. If I'm Bogo and that isn't true, I'm getting out there immediately. It had to be a quick decision is Jack didn't know.
For crying out loud, OBJ isn't this tone deaf.
Head to Cincy or Roch and see what that does for your next contract. - gcomella34
All I'll say is I doubt he asked for a trade for getting scratched once. You don't know if he had asked for a trade a while ago. I'm not trying to be the one defending him here, or his play, but you don't know if he was straight told that he'll be the 7th D man going forward. I honestly think it's you that's kinda being tone deaf here, as you don't actually know the story but want to jump to conclusions other then the guy literally just wants to play and won't here. And as far as I'm concerned (As a Sabres fan) this is a good thing.

That would be more likely, yes. Still have to find a team for Bogo. I would expect a 4th or 5th rd pick for him. |

I definitely agree there.
It's a total slap in the face though. I'm sure the Sabres would have loved to trade him when he was missing some of his 38% of his games due to injury and were paying him some of the $30m total they've given him.
Good riddance to him and his business |

Him no-showing for his charity is just garbage. I mean, the staff probably pulled an audible because of the report, but it's not like there's any reporters there asking him questions. Just Sabres film crew. The report came out basically the same time, even maybe a bit after he's supposed to meet with the vet.
Just bad optics. |

Be smart, trade him for another Olofsson. Guy who's clearly talented and clearly 3 years out. |

It does suck though, I think he has the makings of a good 3/4 on a legit team, but injuries just derailed him. I think it was goose who always pointed out that he would play well, get injured, and when he came back it would take 5/10/15 games to get back to playing well. Wish him nothing but the best, but... bye? |

Yes kinda like all of the contracts that all us posters have signed to play right? Believe it or not, he's going to sign another NHL contract. He prolly has a belief, and rightfully so based on GM history, showing that you can play for 30 or so games will get him closer to a 2/3x2.5/3 contract vs a 1 year prove it vet league min contract. - SDSabre

I’d have to gauge his interest in resigning before I give up big assets for him... but I’m picking up the phone if I’m botts. |

I can’t see bogo just getting waived. I think botts believes that all players have some sort of value. No matter how low. - Sabretooth9
Probably right but waiving Bogo- ideally someone picks him up (unlikely) gives us some cap flexibility and we can call up Pilut if anyone goes down |

Borgen, picks, Mitts might make FL consider it. Hoffman is on an expiring contract and they might not have cap space to re-sign him. Hoff's been good here, and no word or hints of any off-ice drama. Mitts intrigues me because he's obviously a talented kid, just hasn't progressed as hoped/expected. It reminds me somewhat of how some here were ready to trade Huberdeau for a bag of pucks after his second and even third year. Many of you think Mitts needs AHL time, at least a new team wouldn't be bound by any promises possibly made to college student Mitts about not going to the AHL.
Don't think FL would move Hoffman (especially to a division rival) unless they fall out by the TDL, but, who knows? An offer too good to refuse and they might pull the trigger, and then bring Tippett up to be the PP sniper. I think that's who they're expecting to be there next season, if they can't afford re-signing the Hoff. |

I'd listen to trade offers for him but not for a pending UFA. Same with Borgen |

Bogo has been supporting the troops since matt moulson left a few years ago.
I'd say he's been pretty respectful for years, no one else on the Sabres is doing this.
