All I'll say is I doubt he asked for a trade for getting scratched once. You don't know if he had asked for a trade a while ago. I'm not trying to be the one defending him here, or his play, but you don't know if he was straight told that he'll be the 7th D man going forward. I honestly think it's you that's kinda being tone deaf here, as you don't actually know the story but want to jump to conclusions other then the guy literally just wants to play and won't here. And as far as I'm concerned (As a Sabres fan) this is a good thing.

I agree with your assessment that this may not be the first time that he asked for a trade, that being said, the evidence we have indicates this was relatively out of no where.
Tone deaf is when you do something and you don't understand the obvious context of your actions. I'm making a conclusion based upon evidence. That's not tone deaf.
It's OK that you disagree with that.
