Everyone except Jack Eichel. - Pegullaville
You're 100% right. Everything is in a vacuum
We didn't have an ignoramus coach last season
Eichel didn't hit a ton of posts in the first half of last season.
Eichel didn't get banged up halfway through the year and take a month to get back to normal
None of these things that happened, actually happened.

Risto/Montour have found some mojo
Dahlin coming back, Bogo sucks. I want to see Dahlin Joker second pairing - lulags
I like Dahlin on his own line, same with Joker. Both drive their lines, they make lesser D men play well, so they do that. Solid 2 D pairings right there. |

Lamar jackson = pominville
Picked later, nothing handed to him. Had to wait his turn
Allen = reinhart
Picked early. Handed the ball in the first game
Good post - jcragcrumple
8 points in 10 games sucks, just because of where he was drafted
allen was picked 7th overall and is being outperformed by a qb taken 10th overall a year earlier, so he sucks
ahl ullmark sucks because he can't stop 40 out of 41 shots, only 39 of 41
skinner sucks because he can't elevate 2 4th liners into legit second line nhl players

Is it that an abomination to state that the Sabres top 3 forwards currently aren't good enough to go deep into the playoffs?
They are fine if spread out into other teams and not being the focus but to lead a team to the Cup, in my opinion, is not the cocktail for sustained, deep success.
Jack can
Sam would be fine if he didn't expect 7 million + and be one of the top wingers and instead be a 5.5 million and maybe fit him on the 3rd line or use him and something else to try to upgrade a first or 2nd line winger.
They are stuck with Skinner and he could play on the 2nd line with a good center and another strong winger and be part of a winner but 10 mil, 9 mil, and Sam is going to want 7.5 mil and that trio is not good enough in my opinion for that amount of money against the cap with Dahlin coming up wanting big bucks if he gets out of his funk. Olofsson is going to get a nice paycheck if he keeps this up.
Another thing, fans aren't filling the arena during the week against the Stanley Cup Champion and other teams. Maybe more dynamic, exciting players than Sam Reinhart and many other forwards besides Jack would help as well and dealing Reinhart + and maybe + would help in this regard.
Better and exciting is my thesis.

I will concede this part is a surprising and serious problem. Likely stems from last years collapse, fans aren't quite willing to buy in. Also as likely that 8 years of missing has just wiped the fan base numb.
They could stand to do something that gets the fans to at least believe again, independent of reinhart, skinner or whatever. |

I'm still waiting for the answer to who plays RW if Sam were to be traded.
I don't worry about who will play D if 3 of the following were to be traded
Bogo
Risto/ Montour
Scandella/McCabe
Miller
Nor LW if Vesey and Sheary were part of a package. |

We've been waiting for that 2C for a year and a half. Looks like we're going to be waiting for Cozens |

I am enjoying watching professional hockey in Buffalo this year. Am I strange? Should I argue over and over about things I cannot control, just so I can fit in on HB?
Think I'll finish work, shop for presents, and bake some cookies tonight with the fam. Maybe have a beer or 2. |

Sounds good!
2 Questions
1-what is the package for, and who is the targeted 2C
2- who is playing RW on lines 1 and 2? |

I actually think they're close enough that it may not be necessary. It looks like they just need a forward in general who can create his own offense without giving back twice as much defensively.
It tends to have a trickle down effect because the 2nd line has that problem now. If someone with that upside slides in their, then the offense is no longer running through incapable players such as Mojo or Vesey. They instead become the beneficiaries, a role they are much better suited to play. |

If Skinner had more secondary assists, it would entice the crowd to show up to games.
Perfectly reasonable opinion |

They are 2nd in their division and they have two players who have some jam, Jack and Dahlin when he is on his game, lately just Jack.
Do you think the Sabres can go deep into the playoffs with Reinhart and Skinner as the 2 and 3 best forwards and then paid like it to take up space from potentially better players? If so, I give you a golf clap for your optimism. |

Last year's collapse plus a much better Bills team.
People forget that this is how it's been when both teams were at least playoff contenders or even pretenders because it's been so long. Until the Bills are over, Sabres' attendance takes a hit. |

I don't even think they are playoff team right now, very close though. Do I think they need another high end player (perhaps better than Reinhart) to be a legit cup contender? Yeah. But as for right now, to get in the playoffs (the short term goal) the core is fine, its the middle that will kill their chances. |
