I don't think that's how the really intelligent hockey people use that analytic.

Pastrnak has an exceptionally high xGF this year. The smart folks try to figure out why so that they can do a better job against the B's.

Is he getting to a certain spot? Is he cashing in on a lot of rebounds? Nobody that matters believes that he's an 'average' shooter and that he'll magically revert back to the norm.

Well he might ...and based on history he probably will ...but it'll be because teams are figuring out what's working so well for him as opposed to him just forgetting where to go and how to shoot.
