Is there a player in the league who's own fans hate more than Leafs fans hate William Nylander?

No, the Answer is no

wait...sometimes Auston Matthews..but mostly Nylander

Thats fair

i suppose throwing hits can take a toll on the thrower, over a season

It also forces the opponent's (most commonly) defensemen into rushing plays. If you do it often enough, it will lead to mistakes. See Gardiner, Jake.

If a defenseman has the puck and Petan is skating towards him, he's got time to survey the situation and make the correct play.

If a defenseman has the puck and Wilson, Kadri, Komarov, Ovechkin, Simmonds, Reaves, Anderson, Kassian, Tkachuk, E. Kane, Kreider, Benn, Cizikas, Palmeiri and dozens of other guys are skating towards him, he'd better get rid of the puck as best he can, and then protect himself from the incoming hit.

Now the key to building any type of successful team is not to have a full team of these types of players. Do go off the end of the spectrum. In the same manner, don't have a team full of soft players that wilt under the first signs of duress.

A successful team has all the characteristics and traits that the said sport could offer.

Imagine, if you will, a team full of Yao Ming's. Conversely, imagine a team full of Muggsy Bogues. Not fun to imagine right?

I have to assume Sanheim for Kap could be on the table.

pretty fair trade, salary's and contract situatons match as both will be RFA's when their deals are over. A year ago it wasn't but Sanheim has upped his game.

He also has shown he can play both LS/RS

He has?

He always throws bombs and his Corsi is 57% since Keefe took over.

- Garnie

He looks a little lost at times and is struggling to handle the puck.

I doubt it lasts long...He is a good player.

But his last 3-4 games have not been strong IMO.

I think Sanheim is more valuable than Kapanen. If only because he's a solid young defenseman who you know will play in the NHL for a long time. And those are harder to find than it looks.

kill a promising play by making a useless shot attempt from the blueline that harmlessly hits some shin pads? Corsi +1.

At the end of the night if you have 51% corsi you dominated, if 49% you got caved in

It's in the charts people!

Dunno.

I am going off the consistent rumors that Kap is highly regarded by other GMs.

I think guys like Kapanen aren't easy to find too, which is why teams want him.

Not many players can skate with that much speed and have talent. Look at Grabner.

Both players aren't easy to find.

It is if you dive into them.

It was a major problem with Babcock for all the D.

Uh oh. Speculation of
Hutchinson starting tomorrow. That means itโ€™s 2-2 road trip.

McDavid probably looking to beat the Daryl sitter record tomorrow night

Is that really what you're hoping Kapanen will amount to though?

As for Kapanen's value, of course he has some.... but there's also a reason most Leafs fans have been considering him expendable and keep offering him in proposals.

Quite the opposite.

I was showing you how rare it is for a player with his speed to be talented.

Grabner doesn't have the talent.

and false, I am going off what Friedman and a few other insiders are saying...and that he is highly sought after.

The NHL has a marketplace. Its all about where GMs think players can fit. Obviously GMS think Kap has a lot to offer and can fit high in their lineup.

If Kapanen has the career of Grabner, everybody should be more or less happy. Better than a Mason Raymond and the other no handed super speedsters.

Jason Chimera. Erik Condra. Lots of random guys with weird careers of mediocrity and one or more "big" years.

Speed is great.

You need to have other aspects of your game to be really valuable.

I see a lot of value in Kap and GM's obviously agree. Which is all that matters at the end of the day...If our opinions meant anything Hall would still be an Oiler

Speed can get you into the league and keep you there, but as you mentioned, it's the additional things that make you stand out. Kapanen has shown his speed and semi-grit are good assets on the PK and at 5vs5, I worry that he just doesn't have the offensive awareness to take it past the 20-40 level without something snapping into place or just a random good year where things go right (a la Grabner's crazy 34 goal season)

I think in the right situation he can really maximize his potential.

He likes to have the puck, maybe thats why he hasn't worked with AM/Nylander.

I think he has some potential to be a line driver.

But yeah his speed is going to keep him in the league a long time. He will have a long career.

It would be kap + for sanheim.

I wanted the leafs to trade for him last year
