We should hire Doug Wilson as next GM, he can consistently get us in playoffs, no need to win cups, that’s secondary. Then we hire Keenan to coach our young players that are now here, plus the ones on their way, he’s perfect for that scenario. Then we trade Kane for Oesterle, he can really skate. After that we trade Dcat for Reeves, we need more toughness on this team. |

How many cups do Wilson have in his tenor with the sharks? You would think with him being there so long he would would have one. Plus with the recent contracts he gave out not winning a cup anytime soon. |

Maybe someone can figure out how the patriots do it year after year: yes tom brady but he doesn't run, block or play defense...patriots and belechick seem to have an "eternal" pipeline of players where the average playing career is 5 years...
just look what they have done over the last 18 years...that's 3 rebuild for most teams... - bogiedoc
Belichek isn't emotional. Unlike Stanbo, he doesn't reward for past performance.
Also, Belichek knows how to evaluate talent. Again, unlike Stanbo.
Finally, Belichek alone runs his ship. He doesn't have to get a consensus in a McCommittee (McDonough, McIsaac, McIver) before making a move. |

Lehner will blame everyone else but himself. It is what he did in Buffalo constantly.

OK - so the Hawks are still trying to figure out whether or not to le Dach and Boqvist play in The World Juniors.
Powers, in The Athletic, wrote:
“Even though Dach has shown he can hang in the NHL, the World Juniors could be a chance for him to dominate and gain more confidence. It could also give the Blackhawks time to decide whether to send him back to the WHL to finish out the season or allow him to play 40 NHL games. If he reaches 40 games, it would count as an accrued season and would make him an unrestricted free agent one year sooner.”
OK - so - if they can still send him back to Saskatoon - and the 40 games barrier eats up a year of his ELC and gets him closer to FA....
What was the 9 game limit for? |

That is exactly what I posted on last blog. Trade him at TDL, or sooner if possible, get as much as possible and move on from this guy. Maybe get a good young forward, or draft pick. |

The 9 game limit is for the first year of the ELC . The 40 game mark gets him to UFA status sooner. I think after seven seasons in the NHL, including a season of 40 games, a player becomes a UFA. This happened to Joki last year. He got sent down after the 39th game.

1. You trade Lehner if the plan is to rebuild. He’s not a rebuild goaltender, he should be on a contender and with him being only a rental, would fetch a king’s ransom at the deadline. We are talking top prospect and a first round pick.
2. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Saad. He’s a useful player and I think he also gets a nice return in a deadline deal.
3. The team is going to have a very difficult time in a rebuild because of the prohibitive marketing and consumer side of things. McD can’t market ‘rebuild’ and there are no players to sell with advertising revenue in a rebuild like that, nobody proven.
4. I’m not sold Colliton is the issue so much as Colliton with the vets is an issue. He’s done pretty well with most of the kids. If the Hawks do rebuild, I think JC stays.
5. That being said, if the Hawks do rebuild, Stan has to go. Way too many bad trades, bad calls. |

After 10 games, the first year of the player's ELC kicks in. 9 games or fewer allows the ELC to slide a year.

Tyler Cameron: "What If" the Blackhawks flame out?
Let's kick this one off with a few notes from Thursday's game vs. the Arizona Coyotes.
* Bad
* Bad
* Bad
Did I cover it all?
Let's now look at what this team could look like if they completely flame out. Who gets moved? Who might stay? - Tyler Cameron
I read something earlier and I agree with this:
The team as a whole needs to determine a direction and THEN make the necessary moves. Direction means the style of play you want to embody. You can’t have competing philosophies on the same team and expect to win. It’s chaos and that’s what Blackhawks are right now. |

Love to see Mark Hunter running this team from the GM chair ,don't know if he could Dale to coach ,old time hockey (to a degree look at the world we live in ) would be back in town .
Nobody really likes the way Stan got the job ,bit of a Daddy boy thing .,But the real problem is everything is done by committee and there is very little chance that changes Don't see Mark and Dale fitting in to well with the committee .So if Stan is replaced it will most likely be another yes man .
Way I have heard it is every GM gets a coach ,Stan had his and to my eye it was ill-conceived to bring in such a young inexperienced coach ,And that is a big deal. Not like forgetting to send out some offer sheets . |

Mark Hunter will wind up somewhere and I’d guess it’ll be where he wants to end up.
The offer sheets Uncle Dale was responsible for? |

9 games means one year of his ELC is gone. If he plays less than 40, it doesn't count as a season toward UFA status. |

Who knows for sure? Sounds suspicious to me. Dale is sick and out of the office the day the contracts were due. There was no backup in place and the person who had media connections isn’t implicated but his assistant is?
It would take the bubonic plague or death to keep me out of the office on an important day when I was responsible for something. Coincidence that Uncle dale was out of the office that day? Any project I do at work includes a number of backups and safeguards to prevent a single point of failure situation. The media leaked out that it was Bowman’s fault, how would the media knows who’s responsible for what? Who had connections with the media at the time? |

Hey, Chief, snap out of it. Dale is the best GM ever, and has yet to make his 1st mistake. |

This blog depressed me (as I wasn't clued into their next years problems). But it a very good article.
I needed a remembrance of the dynasty gone away and just as I was reading this blog, out comes CBSportsline article ranking the 10 Stanley Cup champions of the the decade now ending. I won't steal any of your enjoyment by saying where the 3 Hawks teams finished, but I'll just say it brought holiday cheer.
